Is it just me or does she look alittle old, in the face, to be born in 1972? 63.164.201.23 04:43, 16 August 2005 (UTC)

In some pics she looks young, in some she looks old...still she's a beautiful woman!

What are these credits listed as "One"? There's nothing in her oeuvre with that title... ka1iban 22:26, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Year of her birth?

Ms. Black is famous for her refusal to tell her year of birth. Where was this information (1972) found for her WP article? (just curious)

P.MacUidhir (t) (c) 12:05, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

Fan speculation currently has her birth year at 1972. I think we're going with it here because that's what they have on IMDB ka1iban 15:52, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
The question mark was removed but I'm going to put it back for now; at least until someone can decisively confirm her birth year ka1iban 15:44, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
According to the discussion board at the IMDb (in response to a troll who was trying to claim that Black is really in her 40s) the 1972 date is an estimate due to the fact that in 2000 Black stated in an interview that she was 28. 23skidoo 20:14, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
There's no way she's 34. Maybe 44. She looks great, but saying she was born in 72 is just stupid. She's a very attractive, middle-aged woman. Let's remove the bogus age.
Vrox Although I'm finding it difficult to find material easily displayed here (I have my year book from school but nothing "online") that verifies my statements, I can confirm that Claudia Black could easily have been born in 1972 as initially stated. I say this as I personally performed with her in a couple of school musicals. She went to the all-girl high school Kambala in Sydney which, on a yearly basis at the time, did a musical with the boys from my school Sydney Grammar School (Gilbert & Sullivan pieces to be precise). At the time she was a year above me at school. Considering I was born in 1973, its not a great leap of logic to for me to believe she was indeed born in '72. I don't usually discuss a woman's age (call me old fashioned) but I'm sure she wouldn't mind someone defending her when people are accusing her of being "middle-aged"! -unsigned (probably 75.132.156.26)
I agree. She looks way older than 34. She looks about as old as Ben Browder who was born in 1962. SharkD 07:20, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Ok, IMDB seems to be a pretty reliable source of information and there's no way Claudia Black is middle aged so I'm going to change the little part about the outrageous speculation of her age. IJB TA 04:39, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Pardon me for butting in but I found this article rather randomly and through being an SG:1 fan. IMDB is user-driven and, therefore, about as good a source as Wikipedia (not very). I have no doubt she was born in the early 70's, based on her look and extensive filmography. I believe someone mentioned an interview with her? If it's obtainable, it could be used to verify the IMDB, although, given Ms. Black's hesitance to state her age, that might cause problems as well. In other words, I could be 30 and say in an interview I'm 23. If I look young enough, folks will believe I'm 23 and use that interview as proof of my age. Ispy1981 19:41, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
This really comes down to one question. Is IMDB considered by wikipedia to be a credible source? If it is the date should stay up... even if (you think) it is erroneous... because it is linked to a credible source with no other credible source contradicting (peoples personal opinions aren't credible sources). However if IMDB is NOT considered a credible source then the date needs to be removed... even if (you think) it is correct... because it would then be an unsourced piece of fan speculation. The fact is 'facts' can't be put up on wikipedia based on what people think might or might not be found correct or incorrect in the future. They have to be based on outside reliable/credible sources in the now. Right now people are using IMDB. If it is acceptable, keep it up. Otherwise, take it down till you can find PROOF through a credible source. Or at the least, add the ? mark back. Speculation doesn't belong in an encyclopedia article as fact. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.132.156.26 (talk) 10:04, 12 April 2007 (UTC).

I wasn't aware that information on IMDB was provided by users of the site. I agree that if there is no credible source for the year of her birth than something should indicate that. I think a question mark next to the year would work out fine for now. IJB TA 20:18, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

Why not just go and check the registry of births and then the argument is over? There's bound to be someone in Oz who can walk into the local office.

I agree. I'd always heard that Black refused to talk about her age. The DOB surprised me. Perhaps we should take it off until it comes from a more official source than IMDB. IMDB is great for who starred in what, but not for other things. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.218.221.152 (talk) 14:19, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

I'd also say that I find it VERY hard to believe that she was 27 when Farscape began. I would have said that she was in her thirties. And I don't buy that Ben Browder is ten years older than her. As someone above commented, she's a gorgeous woman, but I have a hard time believing that she's in her mid thirties. A well preserved low or mid forties seems more likely. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.218.221.152 (talk) 00:42, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Claudia photo

I changed the photo to try something new; the other one is so washed out you can barely tell it's her. The current one is from Season 4 promotional shots, I believe. ka1iban 15:57, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

The actual picture http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Claudia_Black.jpg shows better the girl and the guy behind her, not Claudia. Isn't there a better shot? 201.9.223.229 03:12, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Jewish

what evidence is there of her being newish? please explain

Actually there is none! The site given has no mention of her being Jewish, and cites Wikipedia!--mrg3105 (comms) If you're not taking any flak, you're not over the target. 15:40, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
Well, the site provided says Religion: Jewish, not descent! These are not the same, and in any case, its not verified. Something like that has to be verified by an actual statement by the person involved, and not just copied from a site.--mrg3105 (comms) If you're not taking any flak, you're not over the target. 05:57, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
I have checked this. The Claudia Black this is referring to is another person, not the actress, and it has gotten it confused. The Claudia Black those sources refers to is a woman that has a PhD in something. --Charleenmerced Talk 06:02, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] VOICE ACTOR

She narrated and played a roll in Steel Angel Kurumi a Anime. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.176.133.226 (talk) 20:58, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

In the anime series STEEL ANGEL KURUMI, under the English voice cast in the end credits, it says "Onmyou Prayer recited by Claudia Black". If she did anymore voice over roles I would love them to be posted in her Wiki.

I don't see any evidence that this publication has ever existed. All of the google results return someting about Claiudia, but no one else. I think this is all a fabrication.

Claudia Interview Scifi.com reports:

Even The Mutant has fears for her future Writer Paul Sheehan

Claudia Black started life as a nice private school girl in Sydney at Kambala above Rose Bay, but has since travelled a dark road, becoming a vampire, a mutant, and a warrior.

"My body count would be huge", she said. "And after September 11, I wasn't so proud of it". She has paid a high price. She has been eaten by aliens, been irreversibly contaminated, has died more than once, and is now known as the "Mutation."

In short, Claudia "Mutation" Black has been one of Australia's busiest actresses since she entered the world of science fiction five years ago, and is now the centre of a micro cult. Her own action figure sells over the internet.

"Some fans do become obsessive," she says.

She was in New York on September 11th last year, working on FARSCAPE, the American show that has kept the Mutation and several hundred other Australians employed. It is a bizarre career path for the daughter of Judy Black, professor at the University of Sydney, and Jules Black, a Sydney obstetrician and gynocologist. Their brainy ambitions for their daughter lasted just three weeks at the university. She wanted to be an actor. This led to nightclub singing, soap operas in New Zealand and sporadic roles on Australian TV until she was cast as a founding member of Farscape in 1998. The pace has been maniacal since.

"The show takes 80 hours of my time a week, and for the last four years I've only had one week off over Christmas." Farscape, a new series which starts it prime time run on Foxtel on Tuesday, has a high profile in the United States. In June the cover of the American television bible, TV Guide, featured the cast of what it called "the Sci Fi cult hit," about to air for its fourth season.

"Only 2 percent of shows ever make it to a fourth season," Black said. However Farscape's days may be numbered. Even though it has about 2 million regular viewers in the US, has rated well in the UK, and has been sold in other markets, the Sci Fi Network has just pulled the plug. Even Star Trek had to survive such a near death experience before it was saved by Trekky protests and picked up by another company.

Farscape's creator, Rockne S. O'Bannon, is working on a movie version of the show which, if it gets up, would ease the pain of uncertainty and keep a large segment of the Australian acting community employed. The show is made at Homebush Bay.

If the Farscape journey is about to end, The Mutation worries that, having turned 30 yesterday, her busiest days are already behind her. "In some ways I'll be lucky if I ever work again. There is a huge prejudice against sci fi."

Although Farscape is a US series, the only American in the otherwise Australian cast is Ben Browder, who is also the only true human among the lead charaters (granite jawed astronaut John Crighton, who is the love interest for Black's character Aeryn Sun). In real life Black lives with a "glorious man, who shall remain nameless."
