클로드 피론(1931년생, 언어학자, 심리학자)는 1956년부터 1961년 사이 UN에서 중국어, 영어, 러시아어, 스페인어, 불어를 다루는 번역사로 활동하였고, 그후 세계보건기구를 통해서 전세계서 활동하였고, 그 와중에 수많은 에스페란토 저작을 하였다. 그는 일본, 중국, 우즈베키스탄, 카자크스탄, 아프리카, 남아메리카 및 모든 유럽지역에서 에스페란토 활동을 하였다.
그는 1973년 ~ 1994년 중에 스위스 제나바 대학 심리학부에서 강의하였으며, 불어로 된 그의 저작 "Le defi des langes - Du gachis au bon sens"(언어의 도전 - 혼돈에서 상식까지)(파리, L'Harmattan, 1994)은, 국제 의사소통에 있어서 심리학적인 측면을 분석한 책이다.
그는 여러 종류의 에스페란토 글을 썼는데, 초보자를 위한 글, 소설, 단편, 시, 논픽션 등의 책들이 있으며, 가장 유명한 책은 Gerda Malaperis 와 La Bona Lingvo가 있다. Gerda Malaperis는 초보자들을 위한 학습서로서, 처음에는 단순한 어휘와 단순한 문법으로 시작하다가 점차 심화된 에스페란토를 활용하는 것이 특징이며, 끝에 초보자를 위한 단어 해설이 있다. La Bona Lingvo는 에스페란토의 기본 언어적익 특징과 사회적인 측면을 조망한 책이다.
