GTA2?
I've only played snatches of GTA2, so could anybody explain what Claude's part in GTA2 actually was? His story seems to miss that part out... Dragonfly888 4 July 2005 23:13 (UTC)
- In terms of game itself, not much. He's suppose to do jobs to advance to other city areas, but he doesn't talk, or exhibit any behaviors besides smoking, farting or burping. ╬╬ 25 chatter 7 July 2005 07:58 (UTC) ╬╬

Pal?
A (removed) addition in the article states that Claude Speed was refered to as "Pal" in GTA2 by the "Russian Mafioso". Any source on this information, and the exact part of GTA2 where this is mentioned? ╫ 25 ring-a-ding 06:05, 11 December 2005 (UTC) ╫
Referring to the repeated addition of the "Pal" passage [1][2][3], I have watched the entire movie, including the in-game version and the website version, and I have yet to hear any form of speech by characters in the movie, let alone any mention of "Pal" in any portion of the movies. In addition, no boss or character has referred to Claude as "Pal" in GTA2 itself. For these reasons, I will ensure that any attempts to include this unsourced and unproven passage once more will be reverted or remove without hesitation. ╫ 25 ring-a-ding 09:23, 13 December 2005 (UTC) ╫
Dear anon user, please clarify where you cited the source of the "Russian Mob, Pal" passage. The lack of Wikipedia:verifiability of the passage, and your absence in any discussions, has resulted in continuous removal of the passage. Please consider voicing your objections in this talk page, if you have concrete evidence and justification to back up your decision for including this passage. ╫ 25 ring-a-ding 09:31, 20 December 2005 (UTC) ╫
Not the same person
Stop changing it to your opinions. Claude Speed and Claude are not the same thing. I'm editing it. Stupid pimple faced kids. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.94.126.250 (talk • contribs)
- Please note that I have largely written this article as best as I can in a NPOV, including the aforementioned passage regarding the relation between Claude Speed and Claude. While I do agree that the "imply" passage was unintentionally POV-slanted, personal attacks are not encouraged. Please stay cool. Thanks. ╫ 25 ring-a-ding 16:39, 5 March 2006 (UTC) ╫
About that muteness..
I'd just like to say that even though everything says he's mute (I don't really care either way), and I haven't played GTA3 for a while; but, on the PS2 version, he exclaims quietly when he falls (mostly sure of this) when he dies (mostly sure of this) or when he gets shot (very small chance, but as I said, I don't remember quite well.) The exclamation is a quieter version of what may seem like a cross between "Argh!" and "Uh!" that a person usually makes when they're hit. I've noticed it's really similar to having the wind blown out of you.
- Added note on that. Thanks. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 12:17, 13 June 2006 (UTC) ╫
It's true, Claude does make sounds when shot, falling, or dying. He still is a mute though since even mutes make sounds when hurt
Lol, it amuses me that people are jumping to the conclusion that he is mute even though this hasn't been officially stated anywhere. I'm pretty sure all of the protagonists have been "mute" up to GTA 3 and the only time he is referred to as such is when CJ calls him a "mute asshole" and "snake without a tongue," which is clearly merely out of anger. Unless there is an official source stating so, we should all just sit and wait for something official to come out stating otherwise. BishopTutu 22:43, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
- Just to set the record straight, Claude's silence has been referenced twice, once in GTA III, when Maria phones in on Chatterbox and comments on him not talking much, and secondly in GTA:SA, which are CJ's comments that you have pointed. This does imply that Rockstar has been referencing the GTA III Claude's lack of speech and muteness in two GTA games released in an interval of three years. And while Claude's silence is never official confirmed, given that there are already two instances of this reference, I have to say this are eqally reliable info. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 18:59, 13 December 2006 (UTC) ╫
- That is true, but these statements (the "mute" references in GTA III and San Andreas) i feel can be considered purely humorous and comedic; Gordon Freeman, the protagonist from Half Life 2, doesn't say a word, and this silence is also referenced by his companion, Alyx Vance, when she askes "you dont talk much, do you?" when she rescues him. This, in no way, can "concrete" that Freeman is mute, just because people in the game merely make statements that "he doesn't say alot", especially if there isn't any official information stating so. Also, the creators of GTA III may have merely wished to not provide Claude with a voice at that time; Perhaps seemingly random, Sonic the Hegdehog, in a few of his Sega Genesis-era games, doesn't speak at all, yet, as time progressed, he eventually got a voice, first in a cartoon series, then in his video games. Though maybe, like i said, a random comparison, we simply cant just jump to the conclusion that he is mute due to certain game features and characters. I'm not necessarily ruling out that he is mute. Im merely saying we cant claim he is or is not just yet. Basically, we should all wait until an official statement claims as such. BishopTutu 04:12, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

- Aaah, so you're have been disagreeing with a claim that is Claude is mute. That is definitely agreeable. The only thing known is that the character is speechless throughout his two appearances. It is never clear if he is mute or has a speaking disorder, whatever, so these theories about Claude losing the ability to talk cannot be confirmed; nor would Carl's insult that claims Claude is mute can be considered reliable (because it's not like he knows the nature of Claude's silence). I've made the needed amendment, among other. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 18:59, 13 December 2006 (UTC) ╫
Rather stupid reference
I feel looking to the GTA2 movie for Claude's name is a little stupid since it also appears in the game's manual. (user:HannuMakinen)
- Verified it and added a note of it (although it is worth noting that the only instance of this name there appeared in the GTA2 movie section of the manual credits). Thanks. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 18:24, 24 July 2006 (UTC) ╫
Age?
anyone knows?
- SA : 21 | III : 30 ~ moe 15:26, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

- Could you provide sources to this information? I have never seen or heard his age mentioned anywhere from GTA2 onwards. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 15:55, 17 September 2006 (UTC) ╫
- No i can not provide a source but this is just a guess~ moe 15:58, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
Is Claude canonically Claude Speed?
Okay, this is really makin' me mad. If there is absolutely NO official information stating that GTA: III Claude is GTA 2 Claude Speed, then i believe there should either be 2 separate Claude articles or the Claude Speed character should have a small section of the article dedicated to him and that the title should be "Claude" instead of "Claude Speed/Claude." How can he be considered Claude Speed if there isn't any information stating so? BishopTutu 22:34, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
- The problem is that inevitably, both characters are so intricately connected that a split to separate both character would eventually result in a merge, so I never thought about splitting the article. As much as this arrangement may prompt plenty of people to jump to conclusion that Claude is Claude Speed, readers of Claude Speed are expected to be savvy enough to actually read even only the introduction of the article to understand the current connection between the two characters; it's their lost if they misinterpret the article, although the article name alone would definitely imply the wrong information. One suggestion is to rename the Claude Speed article as "Claude (Grand Theft Auto)," so it refers to both the later versions of the character, as well as the earlier GTA2 version, by their first names. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 19:00, 13 December 2006 (UTC) ╫
- The statements you made about there eventually being a merge are true, but basically what im ranting about is the fact that the article is, for one, titled "Claude Speed", which is the name of the GTA 2 character that we barely have any info about (compared to "Claude, at least), and two, I feel the information detailing "Claude Speed" should either be removed or moved and reduced at the bottom of the article; like i previously stated, Claude Speed has less info known about him than Claude.
