[edit] Merge with Ballet
I'd like to merge this article with the main ballet article. Unless I hear an objection, I will do so next week. Slhogan94 19:07, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
- I would suggest that Ballet is the article to keep, rather than Classical ballet, since Ballet is the term most people will enter/refer to. Stephenb (Talk) 09:25, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Agreeing with merging
- I believe it could definitely be merged with the main ballet article. Perhaps as its own category?
- Absolutely this page should be merged. Despite people that might say different because of minor regional variation, Classical Ballet & Ballet are one and the same thing, they are not different styles remotely. I find it very strange that there are two seperate articles like this and suggest merging as soon as possible. As a professional ballet dancer, I can assure anyone that Ballet is Ballet and is essentially the same wherever you are in the world and whilst there are different training systems and some small variations in vocabulary of steps from nation to nation, the core technique never particularly changes. Of course it is important to point out that 'Classical Ballet' is the CORRECT term for the genre, obviously having been shortened to Ballet for common use, so eally, the content of the Ballet article should actually be moved HERE with a redirect from that page. - As an addition to this comment, I realise that the earlier editor who had suggested joining the article hasn't returned for a little while and not taken action on this, so would strongly recommend that someone with experience organises this change as it is quite major. As there is little information featured that is different from the Ballet article, I suggest simply removing and reditecting. Crazy-dancing 21:45, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Disagreeing with merging
- I think it just needs something added to it. Classical ballet is a very different style of ballet. It should stay as it's own article, but it does need more history added to it. TheBallerinaDoll 00:43, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Pages not merged
The Ballet and Classical Ballet pages have been edited to differentiate between the general and particularity of these. Also History of ballet now has its own article. Paul foord (talk) 12:48, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Joinin
The reason I am for joinging up both the Classical Ballet and Ballet articles is that the origin are exactly the same. Classical Ballet is the historical foundation and should be the primary article on the subject. The article should feature a full history of the development of classical ballet since the renaissance and then link of to other dance forms that have developped from it such as contemporary dance, modern dance, jazz ballet or whatever. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Crazy-dancing (talk • contribs) 14:03, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
