[edit] What Wikipedia Is

NOT Journalism. Wikipedia should not offer first-hand news reports on breaking stories. Wikipedia is not a primary source. Wikipedia does have many encyclopedia articles on topics of historical significance that are currently in the news, and can be updated with recent verified information. NOT News reports. Wikipedia properly considers the long-term historical notability of persons and events, keeping in mind the harm our work might cause. The fact that someone or something has been in the news for a brief period of time does not automatically justify an encyclopedia article. While Wikipedia strives to be comprehensive, the policies on biographies of living persons and neutral point of view should lead us to contextualize events appropriately.

This site needs to be properly edited so that MY name is no longer slandered on Wikipedia because of current affairs. Editing attempts have been made but are not being acknowledged. Wikipedia will now have to get involved. Thanks to my TRUE fans who have supported me thus far. Clarence Vaughn 20:40, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Clarence Vaughn

Well, I'm not sure whether or not you are who you say you are, but regardless, you are correct. Wikipedia's not a rap sheet. (ESkog)(Talk) 23:50, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

I agree that it is not a rap sheet, but we arent talking about stealing a bike or a public intoxication here, we are talking about being one of Virginia's Most Wanted Child Support Evaders. Its on a government website, come on. This is just another censorship attempt on wikipedia. Jwalte04 00:06, 12 July 2007 (UTC) PS I will undo that edit tomorrow if its not back up.

The issue here is whether it's in anyway relevant to the article. If there's press coverage of this for instance, then it could well be notable, whereas if it's some editor dredging through all the crap on the internet, it's not relevant. If we include financial and legal problems like this, where do we stop, a full credit report on each entry in the encyclopedia, details of defaults on loans etc. If the maintenance payments thing isn't notable, then it stays out, if you can prove notability in press etc, as you would for the subject himself, it goes in. Anybody found reverting edits will be hit about the head with a cluestick, btw. Nick 00:17, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

As I pointed out at User_talk:ESkog#Removal_of_.22Most_Wanted.22_Status_from_Clarence_Vaughn, it's not "dredging through all the crap on the internet" when when a state lists you as one of its "10 Most Wanted" and the info comes up in the first page of a google search. Other NFL players have minor criminal info in their articles, like Deltha O'Neal and the 1 sentence that mentions he was arrested in 2006 for DUI, which isn't relevant to his playing. FWIW, I learned of Vaughn's "Most Wanted" status this year on a television broadcast in Baltimore. <shrug> Draeya 00:40, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WP:BLP

That material does not belong in this article, as per our WP:BLP policy. Do not re-add ≈ jossi ≈ (talk) 00:46, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Can you be more specific about why it doesnt belong rather than give us pages and pages to read? thanks, cuz i still disagree. Jwalte04 16:40, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Still waiting... It should still be on there. Jwalte04 14:25, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

We've been more specific. If you don't want to read up on our policy and give a good reason why we should make an exception, I don't know what we can do for you. (ESkog)(Talk) 15:50, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
