[edit] Outgoing ports

I needed to know which port clamwin uses to update itself via web. I couldn't find that info here and i believe it is important. Please if you know, put it in the article.

You do know that Clamwin has its own forum, do you not? (I won't mention the ports here in case they change them in the future - it's better to keep such a discussion just in one place). -Lwc4life 08:50, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Trojan and adware

Had ClamWin been complemented by Winpooch, it would have fared better (as it does not detect Trojans and Malware when used as a stand-alone antivirus program)

I am about to remove this comment because it doesn't seem to be true, for the following reasons:

  • The front page of clamwin.com claims that it detects "viruses and spyware". According to popular interpretation, spyware is an inclusive term for anything that spies on your activities, including trojans and adware.
  • This thread describes a situation where a user successfully detected a trojan using ClamWin. One of the participants describes that ClamWin quarantines but does not delete trojans. This, however, is different from the claim quoted above.
  • I am not able to find any other sources (including Winpooch) that claims that ClamWin cannot detect trojans or adware on its own.
  • The comment quoted above sounds very defensive. This is not helpful to ClamWin or to users' security. Objectiveness is doubly important here.
  • Last but not least, it's OR. Unless there is a source which proves that ClamWin+Winpooch fared better on the test in question, the claim is unsubstantiated.

Does virus.gr really qualify as a WP:RS? I think this is the only antivirus program on this list to use this source & it is just a relatively low traffic blog for a Greek virus tester that doesn't seem to meet WP:N. I don't think there is a need to debate what "spyware" means, but I don't think the entire section adds much to the article (if a similar survey were published in a legitimate PC magazine & cited, it might be different). --Karnesky (talk) 23:58, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Userbox

Wikipedia editors who use ClamWin may want to add this userbox to their user page:
