[edit] Summary

Image of Georgetown area of Connecticut, taken from Clark's map of Fairfield County, Connecticut, published in 1856. At this time, the name Georgetown was not in use. However, the earliest buildings of the Gilbert and Bennett wire mill are shown. Gilbert and Bennett's existence was largely responsible for the growth, economy, and local identity of Georgetown.
