Clayton County Public Schools is a public school district located in Jonesboro, Georgia, U.S. With over 52,000 students, CCPS is the fifth largest school district in Georgia. The school system is currently under scrutiny from the Southern Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, which is threatening to pull the system's accreditation. The current problems stem from a Board of Education that has been accused of micromanagement and interference with the daily affairs of the school system. The system is set to lose its' status in September, 2008. This will have dire effects on students and teachers. Property owners are also concerned about declining property values in light of the Board's actions.
