Claudio Narea (born 1965) is a Chilean rock musician, singer, and songwriter who is best known as the lead guitarrist and back-up vocalist of the Chilean rock band Los Prisioneros from 1982-1989 and from 2000-2003.

[edit] History

Narea led the band Profetas y Freneticos in the early 1990s, during his first post-Prisioneros stint, achieving some local success. They released two albums, one self titled, and the other "Nuevo Orden" which was a hinted homage to the group New Order. In 1999 he began working on his first solo album since "Profetas y Freneticos". He released it in 2000, and had a radio hit single, "Amar es Complicado". He did not tour with the album as he said he was too afraid to sing, something he has overcome on his own account since his latest album in 2006. Narea re-joined the re-united Los Prisioneros in 2000, and rehearsed constantly with the original line up. In 2001 they returned to the stage in huge success, the toured in many parts around the world from 2001 through 2003. In september of 2003, just a few months of their newly released album, Narea was dismissed from the band for reasons kept within the band, in which they claim were "talked out like gentlemen". From that time until 2006 he worked on writing songs. He went into a studio to record his second album, it was released in the middle of 2006. The album is El Largo Camino al Exito released in October 2006. Narea enjoyed a good amount of success all throughout 2006 and promoted the album by doing some shows in late 2006 and early 2007. He took some time off to participate in the "El Baile" dance contest tv show and lasted a couple of episodes. As of late, he is set to begin his own tv music show on a new Chilean tv channel.
