Claudio Huepe
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Claudio Huepe García (b. December 25, 1939) is a Chilean Christian Democrat politician who was Minister Secretary General of Government between 2000-2002. He was affectionately known by the media as "El Vampiro Huepe" ("Huepe, the Vampire").[citation needed]
Huepe was Chile's ambassador to Venezuela from 2005 until his resignation in 2006. He was forced to resign for revealing a personal conversation with president Michelle Bachelet in Venezuelan television channel teleSur, in which Bachelet told him that she was inclined to vote for Venezuela in its bid for the two-year, non-permanent Latin American and Caribbean seat on the United Nations Security Council. The vote had developed into a major ideological issue in Chile, dividing the governing coalition between the Socialists, who supported a vote for Venezuela, and the Christian Democrats, who strongly opposed it.
