Claudine Margaret Castelo Barretto-Santiago or Claudine Barretto , the Optimum Teleserye Queen (born July 20, 1979 in Manila, Philippines) is a popular tv and movie actress in the Philippines today with numerous movie and teleserye hits under her belt. She is notable for her portrayal of the mermaid Marina in the 2004 Marina TV series .

Barretto is the pioneer of ABS CBNs circle of homegrown talents named Star Magic.

She is the daughter of Miguel Alvier Barretto and Estrella Santiago Castelo. She has six other siblings named Mito, Mitchie, Jay-jay, Gia, Gretchen Barretto and Marjorie Barretto. Gretchen and Marjorie are also actresses. She previously dated Mark Anthony and the late matinee idol Rico Yan.

She and comedian/actor Raymart Santiago were married on March 27, 2006 in Tagaytay Highlands in Tagaytay City, Cavite[1]. Their wedding was attended by ABS-CBN and GMA executives, their families (except Gretchen Barretto, who at the time of the wedding was estranged with Claudine), their showbiz and non-showbiz friends. Claudine gave birth to their son on July 19, 2007 --a day before the couple’s birthday [1]. Rodrigo Santino joins big sister Sabina Natasha (b 2004), whom they adopted at 2 months old in July 2004 [2].

She is the closest rival of also equally talented actress Judy Ann Santos.

She has been paired with numerous actors with the likes of Aga Muhlach, Robin Padilla, Piolo Pascual, Jericho Rosales, Diether Ocampo, John Lloyd Cruz and the late Rico Yan

She is considered as box office queen in the Philippines for the movies she has made that hit the box office, these includes: Got 2 Believe, Milan, Kailangan Kita, Dubai, Nasaan Ka Man, Anak and Sukob.

She has been worked with the top actors and actresses in the Philippines which includes: Gov. Vilma Santos, Sharon Cuneta, Maricel Soriano, Christopher de Leon, Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz, Hilda Koronel, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Nova Villa and Philippines' Comedy King Dolphy

On July 13, 2007, Barretto and her husband, Raymart Santiago, admitted they did not know that Francswiss Investment—which accepted their money—was involved in a pyramid scam. Their lawyer, Ellen Veza, told NBI agents that the Barrettos had invested in Francswiss, and recruited other investors as well. Francswiss duped Filipinos of almost P1 billion.[3]
