Classified Records

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Independent record label from the San Francisco Bay Area that released music from recording artists Jocelyn Enriquez, Pinay, Julie Plug, M:G, Drop n Harmony, as well as the Serenade compilation series. Label was founded by Kormann Roque, Noel Laxamana and Rino Que in 1993.

The first release was the debut album by Jocelyn Enriquez, who became popular with her hit records Do You Miss Me and Lil Bit of Ecstasy, both produced by Glenn Gutierrez. The label's other hit song releases include Is It Real by Pinay, Sweet Honesty by M:G, as well as What Do You Remember.

The label folded in 2001, but Classified staff members kept their love of music going by starting their own indie labels. JP Nebres, Matt Villacarte and Glenn Gutierrez partnered up to form Planethype Records, releasing music by Sharyn Maceren and What Now, a second album by Pinay. Reno Ursal started up his own label Rhythm Drive Records, releasing music by female artists Malyssa and Alvendia.

Classified is legendary within the Filipino community since many staffmembers and recording artists were of Filipino descent.
