Clark Mountain is a mountain located in the Clark Mountain Range in the Mojave Desert close to the California-Nevada border. The mountain rises abruptly north of Mountain Pass and Interstate 15 to an elevation of 7,929 ft (2,417 m), which is the highest point of the Mojave Desert ranges.[1] The higher elevations of the mountain is a stark contrast to the barren low elevations of the Mojave Desert.[2] Creosote scrub and Joshua tree forests grow on the foothills of the mountain while pinyon pine, juniper, and white fir grow on the sky island at the highest elevations.[3] The high elevation of the mountain means that snow falls on the high peaks during the winter, although the mountain receives little precipitation annually.[3] Path 46 and Path 64 (part of Path 46) 500 kV power lines run to the north and south of the mountain, respectively.[2]
