[edit] History
In the 1830s, two large grants of land were made to a priest named Father John Joseph Therry, and a part of this land is what is now known as Clareville. The present-day suburb of Clareville straddles the water, and it is likely that the suburb has always historically been accessed by the water. In the early 1920s, the area was subdivided and some Sydneysiders purchased holiday homes. In the 1950s, with the proliferation of more motor cars, the area became a residential zone [1]. Houses in the area are now very expensive, as many command water views or frontages.
