Clare Gervasoni

Clare Gervasoni, author, publisher and curator was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1962.

Gervasoni was educated at Genazzano FCJ College, Melbourne State College (Bachelor Art Education) and Deakin University (Grad. Dip Museum Studies).

Gervasoni's first book, Artistic Insights [1], was commissioned by Harcourt Brace Jovanovich and co-authored with artist and educator, Susan Paterson. This was followed by Catbusters for both Art and Studio Art.
Gervasoni then moved into historical research and is recognised as an expert in the fields of Victorian Goldfields history and Swiss-Italian history. In 1998 she formed Ballarat Heritage Services with Dot Wickham and Wayne Phillipson. Gervasoni has written or co-edited over 15 books in the areas of art and history.
In 2005 the Ballarat Heritage Services publication Eureka Encyclopedia written by Gervasoni, Wickham and Corfield was named the Victorian Local History Award overall winner.[2]
Gervasoni's book on the Swiss and Italian settlers in Central Victoria, Bullboar, Macaroni and Mineral Water is in its second edition.

Gervasoni is curator of the Art and Historical Collection at the University of Ballarat, oversaw the redevelopment of the museum at the Castlemaine Art Gallery and Historical Museum and is on the board of the Ballarat Fine Art Gallery.
The Immigration Museum (Museum Victoria) utilised research by Gervasoni in its 2007 exhibition Wine, Water and Stone.
