The Claire Trevor School of the Arts is the fine arts school at the University of California, Irvine in Irvine, CA. The four departments housed in the school are Dance, Drama, Music, and Studio Art. The school has both an undergraduate program as well as a masters program, depending on the area of study. It was named in honor of the legendary Academy Award winning Hollywood actress Claire Trevor.

  • Claire Trevor School of the ArtsEarly professors in the school were Mehta Mehta (father of Rubin Mehta), choral director, Eugene Loring (of Billy the Kid Ballet fame), dance master with James Penrod as an assistant. Frank Stella, Henry Clay, Tony DeLap and John MacCracken were are art instructors. Robert Cohen, John Elliott, organized the undergraduate repotory company that took Oedipus Rex (new translation for the Greek) on the ropad to UC San Diego and UC Santa Cruz. Early productions included "The Assassination of Jean Paul Marat by the Marquis de Sade", "Little Mary Sunshine", "Night of the Iguana", "Midsummer's Night Dream (with Sterling Holloway).
