CKJS is a radio station in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. It broadcasts at 810 kHz on the AM band. The station was founded in 1974 as multilingual radio station catering to various groups within the city. It presently has broadcasts in 19 languages. In the '80's it also boasted, for a very short time, a cutting edge alternative music program (well before such programs existed on AM radio in particular) called Nightbeat, featuring its hosts and developers Mike Paci [Pacey] and Joe Miles. This program was responsible for promoting local talent and giving airplay to music that wasn't being played on mainstream radio.
The station is owned by Newcap Broadcasting and is the only multilingual radio station in Manitoba serving more than twenty different ethnic groups.
