[edit] Use of Master Race - FYI

Carl

Saw your deletion of the above with the remark 'you only call yourselves that'.

The term was/is used widely outside of Instonians - ask Woody, Gene etc how they would normally refer to Instonians in everyday chat and I would guess that 70-80% of time they would use this term. I know from committees over many years that one very Senior Collegian never referred to them as anything other than the MR, unless of course he was in a formal setting.

It could be reverted but (1) its frivilous; (2) I don't think it adds anything that meets 'notability' criteriae and (3) it is impossible to verify as no written media would ever print it given the previous dubious connection! The term probably originated from Collegians, 'The Bin Men' or 'The Gaswork Men' in the first place! Weejack48 21:17, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Copyright issue with Armagh Hockey Club

Hello. Concerning your contribution, Armagh Hockey Club, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. [edit] Collegians & Newry - Copy Vio & a couple of other things

Carl

See the warning on the page creation page - Do not copy text from other websites without permission. It will be deleted.

I have removed the probable copyright violation on th Collegians page and started a rewrite. Will also insert appropriate citations in due course. You might find that at some stage somebody nominates this for deletion unless you move some of the Collegians content off the BH page as there would be a lot of repetition otherwise.

Also be careful with the sources you cite. For instance the Northern Whig ceased publication in 1963 and could not be cited as a source for content on the hockey club that was founded in 1967!

You should also refrain from citing yourself as a source unless you feel you can satisfy WP:V.

You should create a stub article for Newry Olympic quickly removing the cut & paste stuff. It is already tagged in the same way that Armagh HC was, but whoever did the tagging neglected to post the required warning on your talk page.Weejack48 08:24, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

I know the above has a lot of shoulds but I hope you find it helpful!Cheers!Weejack48 08:26, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Ok, ill take it on board, would be interested in knowing who you are? just as I am mainly interested in the Mens Hockey sections and in particular any thing to do with Collegians/Belfast Harlequins. Did you play for them yourself? Cka4004

[edit] License tagging for Image:BH4323.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:BH4323.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 22:05, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] editing

I would suggest you take a look at Wikipedia: Tutorial before making anymore pages like the one you made for Alan Solomons. thanks.--Tainter 19:37, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:BH4323.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:BH4323.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 22:06, 3 February 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Balloonguy 22:06, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AfD nomination of Malone Presbyterian Church

An editor has nominated Malone Presbyterian Church, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Malone Presbyterian Church and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. [edit] Image:MCB12365422.jpg listed for deletion

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:MCB12365422.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 15:36, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Claims of permission

Hello, regarding this edit and a similar one. You say you have permission to use these images - this is not enough - they must be released under a free licence which means that I, or anyone else, can use them for any purpose. Are these images freely licensed? If they are you need to get the school to either make a note of this on their website or contact the Wikimedia Foundation to prove this licence. Otherwise you are infringing copyright and the images will be deleted. Further information is available at the links above. Persistent copyright infringement will result in being blocked from editing. Thanks. -- zzuuzz (talk) 21:51, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

You need to get the school to acknowledge that you, the holder of this account, are the copyright holder and are entitled to re-license the pics. See above method. Or, you may be able to persuade someone by providing higher resolution pics, or other pics in the series you would have taken. -- zzuuzz (talk) 22:25, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
