[edit] Stephen R. Donaldson article

Hello. Just a note that I changed your edit on the Stephen R. Donaldson page: from Columbia University to the College of Wooster.J.R. Hercules 00:03, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Harvard

Nice picture you added to Harvard Museum of Natural History. I see you are doing some work in Harvard-related institutions as am I. My opinion is that they are at least as encyclopedia-worthy as a reality show contestant or the episode of some animated series, and I am guessing you agree. I made a few links in the Glass Flowers article and will be doing some more work to make sure everything notable among Harvard museums is covered. It's nice working with you; best wishes. HouseOfScandal 23:48, 10 December 2006

Yeah, I was reading something you'd done over on the CC page, and knew it was you the second I saw the initials.

[edit] Biography Pages

When putting up a page on a person, is it best practice to use social names such as Mr. or Ms. in the name of the article, or only the name? WilsonjrWikipedia 22:54, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

Please do not add unreferenced or poorly referenced information, especially if controversial, to articles or any other page on Wikipedia about living persons, as you did to Viola Canales. Thank you. --Danorton 20:33, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Nagoya/Boston Museum of Fine Arts

Thank you for starting the article on this museum; I'm actually kind of surprised that there wasn't one before. As a former MFA intern who just might maybe (fingers crossed) be moving to Nagoya soon, I'm quite interested in stories and histories surrounding both museums. I am especially interested in your comment that there is some sort of conflict between the Nagoya curators and Boston administrators over what they will show. What's your source on this? I ask not because I'm challenging the statement, but because I'm quite curious to read more about it. Thanks. LordAmeth 22:45, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] National Geographic Society

Happy New Year Cjs2111...I don't want to keep reverting your Category:National Geographic Society but I am not sure what you mean by the word Organ. Should it be Origins. Thanks in advance for your help. Shoessss 16:27, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

LOL....the only thing I kept picturing was either a heart or liver beating. Thanks for the clarification Shoessss 16:34, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Seperated at birth?

Hi, I noticed that we had similar user names, so I checked out your profile and noticed that the similarities did not end there. We are both from the Buffalo suburbs, both went to Ivy League Universities, both are of Polish ancestory, and both edit wikipedia. I believe that the only logical conclusion is that we are twins seperated at birth. Good luck on the law school apps... --Cjs56 14:28, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] June 2007

Welcome to Wikipedia. An article you recently created, Volker Berghahn, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines for new articles, so it will shortly be removed (if it hasn't been already). Please use the sandbox for any tests you may want to do and please read our introduction page to learn more about contributing. Thank you. A tag has been placed on Volker Berghahn, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

You might particularly want to read up on academic notability guidelines in this case. Coren 01:19, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Hey there. You did a good job establishing the notability of Volker Berghahn, but be aware that you should never remove a {{speedy}} tag from an article you wrote yourself. A passing admin will look at the article, see that notability has been established, and remove the tag him or herself. Coren 01:31, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Rename of Casey Blake (the baseball player) article

Hi CJ ... would you have any objection to renaming the article for the baseball player, Casey Blake, as Casey Blake (baseball) instead of using his full name. I doubt that anyone interested in finding his article is going to know to search for him as William Casey Blake. My suggested name is consistent with new naming guidelines for baseball player articles that I think will be finalized any day now (if you're not aware of this effort, you can find the latest draft here. --Sanfranman59 03:26, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the quick response. I'm relatively new to all of this and don't know how to rename an article. What's the process? --Sanfranman59 03:38, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Stsebs.gif

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Stsebs.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:11, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Peter Mandler

He seems more notable now that you added the links. However, I would still ask you to consider: is he that notable? How far is his coverage as a historian at Cambridge University? Has he had "significant" coverage of all his work from independent sources? I leave you to ponder, then if you're happy you may safely remove the notability tag. [edit] Richtersveld World Heritage

Please note that specifically area of the Richtersveld Community Conservancy [1] was declared a World Heritage Site. The National Park is not even in the WHS - specifically because of mining activities within the boundaries of the park. The article at present gives the impression that the RNP = the Richtersveld WHS. The conservancy is similar in area to the RNP, but just to the south - see map at [2].

⚠

Thanks for uploading Image:Blackman.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Hello Cjs2111, sorry to gang up on you, but your page move left a lot of incoming wikilinks broken - they now point to the diasmbig disambiguation page when they used to point directly to the article. I tried to revert the move but it is not possible without an administrator. The alternative is to manually change each inlink. I do not have much experience with fixing these things, could you help? [edit] Post-modern truthsquad

q. Is there such a thing as post-modern truth?

a. sigh. I think the original insight of postmodernists, that absolute objectivity is impossible, that none of is free of the truth that what we see always depends on where we stand was imporatnt and useful, albeit hardly original.

The problem is that most-modernism has become, to a large extent, merely a convenient cover for the politicization of scholarship.

So, while there is no post-modern truth, there is a need to tell the truth about post-modernists. Post-modern truthsquad (talk) 15:24, 12 March 2008 (UTC)Post-modern truthsquad

[edit] could you please do me a favor?

Hello,

I am a master student at the Institute of Technology Management, National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan. Currently I am wrapping up my master thesis titled “Can Wikipedia be used for knowledge service?” In order to validate the knowledge evolution maps of identified users in Wikipedia, I need your help. I have generated a knowledge evolution map to denote your knowledge activities in Wikipedia according to your inputs including the creation and modification of contents in Wikipedia, and I need you to validate whether the generated knowledge evolution map matches the knowledge that you perceive you own it. Could you please do me a favor?

  1. I will send you a URL link to a webpage on which your knowledge evolution map displays. Please assign the topic (concept) in the map to a certain cluster on the map according to the relationship between the topic and clusters in your cognition, or you can assign it to ‘none of above’ if there is no suitable cluster.
  2. I will also send a questionnaire to you. The questions are related to my research topic, and I need your viewpoints about these questions.

The deadline of my thesis defense is set by the end of June, 2008. There is no much time left for me to wrap up the thesis. If you can help me, please reply this message. I will send you the URL link of the first part once I receive your response. The completion of my thesis heavily relies much on your generous help.

Sincerely

JnWtalk 07:31, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
