CJEF is a low-power, 50-watt Canadian radio station broadcasting at 103.5 MHz from Saint John, New Brunswick. It is branded as 103.5 The Pirate.
CJEF's first broadcast was in 2003 as CFHA, and originally branded as Comedy Radio 103.5. On March 23, 2006, Thomas F. Gamblin sold TFG Communications to Geoffrey Rivett. In May, Comedy Radio 103.5 was re-branded as 103.5 The Pirate with a diverse mix of rock and urban music.
The station's new owners have so far been unable to remove the condition of license obligating CJEF to carry 50% spoken word programming, and as a result it continues to carry comedy programming in off-peak timeslots.
On January 28, 2008, 103.5 The Pirate was re-branded as "The New Pirate". Their new slogan is "Today's Best, Tomorrow's Classics".
As of February 2008, The Pirate staff consisted of:
- Geoff Rivett (Owner / GM)
- Mark Lee (Operations Manager)
- Marc Henwood (On Air / Music Director / Program Director)
- Steve Mackin (On Air)
- Bob Davidson (Talk Of The Town Co-Host)
- John Keirstead (Sales)
- Jason Muise (Technical Engineer)
Programming on 103.5 The Pirate includes the Morning Drive show from 6:30AM—9AM followed by "Today's Best, Tomorrows Classics" from 9am until 4:30pm, then the "All New Talk Of The Town" with Mark Lee and Bob Davidson...which runs from 4:30pm until 5:30pm. Comedy programming runs from 7pm until midnight, then "More Of The Music That You Want To Hear...Now." overnights, from 12am until 6am.
