CIWV is a Canadian radio station, broadcasting at 94.7 FM in Hamilton, Ontario and licensed to "Hamilton/Burlington." The station airs a smooth jazz format branded as Wave 94.7.
The station was launched in 2000 by Burlingham Communications, a partnership between Douglas Kirk, the owner of CJKX in Ajax, and local radio consultant Rae Roe. [1] After a falling-out, Roe sold his interest in the station and would end up partnering with others to launch CKNS in nearby Caledonia.
CIWV-FM Hamilton has gone through several technical changes. [2] [3] [4]
In 2007, Burlingham Communications Inc. (CIWV) had applied to the CRTC to add transmitters in Meaford, Peterborough, and Ottawa, Ontario. All applications have been denied. [5] [6] [7]
