Civil Lines is a locality/township of Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. It is one of the major market areas of Allahabad, and is famous for its shopping malls, hotels, cinema halls and restaurants. The area was built by the British during the heyday of the British Raj and was a residential colony of the British at that time. The old Palace Cinema Hall is one of the prime examples of the British architecture still prevalent in the area. The Patthar Girja(All Saint's Cathedral) is a beautiful example of the British Architecture of that time and attracts many tourists for its beauty and elegance. The Modern Day Civil Lines has several skyscrapers and modern buildings which show the constant change taking place in the city. Civil Lines is a paradise for shoppers in Allahabad even though properties are considered quite costly in the area due to its importance. The main Allahabad Railway Station(Civil Lines) as well as the Allahabad Bus Depot is also in this area.
