Civic Center of Anderson

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Civic Center of Anderson is part of a larger entertainment complex in Anderson, South Carolina that also features baseball and soccer fields, tennis courts, an amphitheatre, a playground, and conference center. Together, the facility is known as the Anderson Sports and Entertainment Center. Constructed in 1991, the Civic Center itself is used for multiple indoor sports, shows, and concerts, and was host to the 1991-92 Big South Conference men's basketball tournaments. The capacity of the 37,000 square-foot building is 5,100.

Sadly, the Civic Center of Anderson Charges for use of their fields which discourages local kids from using the facility. This practice needs to be addressed by the County Council to make the facility assesseable to all economic levels of youth. The center also needs to upgrade it's maintanance budget since the fields and facility are in disrepair especially comparing it to the recently opened Hertigage Park in Simpsonville, SC.
