Civic Center station is on the lower level of the West Peachtree Street bridge over the Downtown Connector with two side platforms. It is the only subway station in the world located above a highway. The Atlanta Civic Center is over three blocks away and the station primarily serves the Peachtree Summit building and the large new complex at Allen Plaza. As of April 2006 2,293 daily fares were collected at the gates. This was a 111% increase over the average 1,086 daily fares collected in April 2005.
