Ciudad del Saber

Panama's Ciudad del Saber (or City of Knowledge) is a government sponsored project which seeks to create a cluster of academic organizations, technology companies and non-governmental organizations. Located just across the Miraflores locks, in what used to be United States Army South headquarters, Fort Clayton.

Among its better known affiliates are UNICEF's regional headquarters, the Red Cross, United Nations Program for Development (UNPD), the World Food Program, and Plan International.
Among the permanent members of the academic section are the Balboa Academy (American school), ILISA Instituto de Idiomas (Spanish language school), Universidad San Martin (Colombia), Istmus University (architecture, and summer programs of McGill University, SIT (Vermont), Iowa State, and UPenn.
