[edit] Tips on creating articles
I see that you have created an article for The Dead Talk Back, but are having some problems trying to get it "hooked into" the Wikipedia system. I have two basic suggestions:
- The fastest way to learn how to add structural elements to a Wikipedia article is to edit one similar to the one you're writing, like, say, Space Mutiny. This will show you the markup for bolding, italicizing, adding links to other articles, creating sections, and adding external links and categories.
- Categories, in particular, are not obvious. What you do is add a category tag (like [[Category:MST3K movies]]) to the article, instead of adding the film name to the page Category:MST3K movies. Also note that when the title begins with "A", "An", or "The", you should add a category sort label like "Dead Talk Back, The" to make sure it shows up in the correct place in the category (under "D" instead of "T", in this case). For this article, the result looks like this:
- [[Category:MST3K movies|Dead Talk Back, The]]
- Please try to avoid statements for which you do not have evidence. For instance, it is a common mistake to make claims like a film is "probably most famous because of its 1994 showing on MST3K", because there is no identified reliable source for such a claim, even if it's likely true.
I've added some of the above information and done some copyediting on your stub article, so you can take a look at it to see these things work. I hope you find this informative. Let me know if you have any questions. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 18:29, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
