City of Bones was ranked 78th in the Chapter Books section on April 7, 2007 New York Times, Children’s Books, published 22 April 2007. Catchpole (talk) 11:52, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

The nytimes.com site may say that (or it may say 8th, like the article claims), but the link requires registration and is thus generally inaccessible and should not be used per Wikipedia:External links#Sites requiring registration. Please don't edit war; your time would be better spent finding a better link. --Jack Merridew 12:16, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Jack, look at the guideline your invoking - it's about External links. It even says on the guideline page, "The subject of this guideline is external links that are not citations of article sources." So the basic premise of your objection doesn't even get out the gate. (And I can personally confirm the info in the article, because for some odd reason I was able to view the actual NYT article when I placed it, as you can see from this diff.) I originally placed them there as reference materials for the rewrite, not really intending they stay there permanently. As long as they're here for access, that should be fine. They do have access to info that could be integrated into the article. Pairadox (talk) 15:21, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
