City Terminal Zone

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The City Terminal Zone is the name given to a collection of rail lines of the Long Island Rail Road in New York City. Specifically, it refers to all stations that lie in Fare Zone 1 (except for Shea Stadium on the Port Washington Branch), which are stations west of Jamaica Station.

[edit] Routes

Note 1: There are four routes that are used for the City Terminal Zone (the Port Washington Branch uses the Main Line, but is differentiated from the other services that go to Jamaica):

  • ML = Main Line
  • PW = Port Washington Branch
  • HP = Hunterspoint - This route (part of the Main Line) is served only during weekday rush hours in the peak direction (to Long Island City in the morning, from Long Island City in the afternoon). Most trains on this route terminate/originate at Hunterspoint Avenue. Hunterspoint Avenue and the track east of it is considered Main Line territory.
  • MT = Montauk Branch - Only one train per direction travels on this route during weekday rush hours.
  • AT = Atlantic Branch
