City Opera House (Traverse City)

The City Opera House is located in downtown Traverse City, Michigan at 112 ½ East Front Street. Constructed in 1891, the opera house provided performance space for traveling artists as well as a perfect setting for formal balls, such as an Installation Ball held in 1892. In 2005, restoration efforts continued. At completion, the City Opera house will boast seating for 730 people, arches with trompe l'oeil clouds and a dome ornameted with angelic putti, a two story oriel window, an acoustic stage shell, modern theatre rigging and complete facilities for catered events.
