City Lights Just Burn is a threepiece guitar-led band from Oxford, England. Their name is a misheard lyric from the Minus the Bear song "Monkey!!! Knife!!! Fight!!!". Lead singer Bj Thatcher was a member of Jelly Gun Jack, whose other members went on to form And None of Them Knew They Were Robots and then more successfully, Send More Paramedics and Die Emergency.

The band is heavily influenced by punk music from the 80s to the modern day, and the vocals reflect a knowledge of emo bands such as Shellac, Fugazi, Sparta, The Get Up Kids and Biffy Clyro. However the music also draws heavily on the rhythms of math rock (particularly bands such as Minus the Bear, Don Caballero and Oxes) and also includes some of the instrumental sensibilities of post-rock bands (such as Explosions in the Sky and Mogwai).
