City Cruises is a tour company that operates sightseeing tours on the River Thames in London. They operate the services mainly using purpose-built 'millennium' vessels which have a large open top deck. They also own a number of old Gosport Ferry vessels.
[edit] History
City Cruises was formed in the late 1980s. It was realised that a company with purpose-built boats was needed on the Thames for sightseeing. They acquired former Gosport Ferry boats in the late 1980s Vita and Ferry Queen. In 1990 they also acquired many small ex Thompson launches boats. In 1996 the company's first purpose built boat the Millennium of London was built and in 1999 four new Riverliners built. These were painted red, and this tradition continues today. City Cruises is now the largest river sightseeing company on the Thames.
