[edit] The College
In 2005/06 the college had over 18,000 students who attended full time or part time courses. The college had around 1,200 full and part time staff. The Principal of City College Norwich is Mr. Dick Palmer.
Since then, the College lost a major contract to the private sector, has lost 5,000 students and has also undergone a significant staff exodus losing over 300. However, it has recently won a "Train to Gain" contract. Due to management led priority changes, the College has lost a large number of adult learners, but has an increasing number of full-time students and remains one of the largest Colleges in the Country.
City College currently has CoVE status in IT and networking, Hospitality and catering, accountancy and finance.
Board Of Governors
The College's Board of Governors include the former leader of the Norfolk Liberal Democrats Party, 3 Students, the Principal, 1 Teaching Staff Member, and 1 Non-Teaching Staff member, as well as approximately 14 more members from the local community, public sector, and business.
Students' Union
The College has one of the most developed, and independent Students' Unions in the country within Further Education in terms of representation, staff, activities, active participation, finance, and services. The Students' Union has been fighting to keep the little remaining social space on campus open, and is on its way to gaining the Student Bar from the College's Hotel School who feel another eatery is necessary on campus. They want to take it back to what it used to be- but more friendly, returning the sale of alcohol, the pool table, music box, table-top football and sofa some day. {{Source: Students' Union Development Plan PDF Download Here}}.
