City College, Birmingham is an establishment of further education in Birmingham, England.
[edit] Mission statement
The mission for City College Birmingham is to widen participation by delivering education, training and learning to young people and adults in the heartland neighbourhood communities of Birmingham. The college provides a range of opportunities including vocational programmes to maximise individuals’ potential and contribute to the regeneration of the local community by producing employable adults and young people. The college is dispersed throughout the Birmingham area and all sites offers services to accommodate the local population. At present the college has approximately 25,000 students and has a mixed base of permanent and part-time staff in a variety of roles to accommodate the needs of both the college and the students.
City College Birmingham was formed as result of the merger of Handsworth and East Birmingham colleges in 1998. This presented difficulties as well as opportunities, as the newly formed HR team inherited not one but two HR systems with a 'no redundancies policy' in place for the first two years.
