Papeda is a subgenus of the genus Citrus, including the Ichang Lemon, the Yuzu and all wild and uncultivated types.
It is believed and supported with molecular studies[1] that the citron, pomelo, mandarin and papedas were the ancestors of all other citrus species and their varieties, as they resulted from breeding or natural hybridization among the parental species.
