Dr. Ciro de Quadros is a leader in the field of Public Health, in particular, the area of vaccine preventable diseases.

Dr. de Quadros played a critical role in developing the strategies now used worldwide in the eradication of polio. http://www.paho.org/English/DD/PIN/Number22_article2d.htm He lead the team which eradicated polio from the Americas. He received a Medical Doctor degree from the Catholic School of Medicine, Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, 1966, and M.P.H. degree from the National School of Public Health, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 1968. http://www.annals.org/cgi/content/full/127/2/156

Since 2003, de Quadros has headed the Albert B. Sabin Vaccine Institute’s international immunization advocacy programs, where he works on issues such as the itnroduction of new vaccines, e.g. rotavirus, rubella, HPV, Pneumococcal and others and on issues related to the sustainability of national immunization programs. He is on faculty at Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health and the School of Medicine of the George Washington University.
