[edit] History

[edit] Childhood

As he turned seven years old, he was already playing some chords on the acoustic guitar. He used to read Lewis Carrol, Monteiro Lobato, and Jules Verne, and used to listen to Roberto Carlos, Os Mutantes, The Beatles, and Secos & Molhados. When he was eleven, he took part of a junior talent quest on the Ilha Porchat Club in São Vicente, São Paulo and won the first place by playing the role of "Aroeira", of Geraldo Vandré.

He studied at Colégio Equipe and in the late seventies, he started opening shows of artists like Walter Franco, Novos Baianos, and Jards Macalé, invited by former president of CCE (Centro Cultural Equipe (Equipe Cultural Center)) Sérgio Groismann to perform at the festivals of the school. In one of these festivals, he took the stage for the first time with his friends which would later form the Titãs do Iê Iê Iê.

[edit] Career

In 1979, he moved to Europe, where he made performances of MPB and Bossa Nova throughout several countries.

In 1981, back to Brazil, he joined Branco Mello, Marcelo Fromer, Arnaldo Antunes, Tony Bellotto, Paulo Miklos, Sérgio Britto, and Nando Reis to form the Titãs. The performed in several different places, but their official debut was in October 15, 1982, at SESC Pompéia. He was a member of the band for only two years, and left with Titãs a number of hits like "Sonífera Ilha", "Toda Cor", "Homem Primata", and "Babi Índio".

As an ex-Titã, he became the bandleader of Cabine C, which released only one album called "Fósforos de Oxford", which contained 11 tracks and was released in 1986 by RPM.

In the early nineties, he was the bandleader of another group: CPSP (Ciro Pessoa e Seu Pessoal (Ciro Pessoa and his Personnel)). They have not released any album, but they performed several times in many Brazilian cities.

In 2002, the CD "Eu e meu Guarda-Chuva" was released, containing 11 tracks composed with Branco Mello, in 1985.

As a journalist from Editora Abril, he earned prizes with the articles "Pela Estrada Adentro" (2002) and "Cem Viagens de Sonhos"”. He also writes for the magazines Playboy and Revista VIP, signed by his Dharmic name Tenzïn Chöpel.

In 2003, he released his first solo album, called "No Meio da Chuva eu Grito Help" (In the Middle of The Rain I Shout out Help), with 11 tracks produced by Apollo 9 and released by Voice Print.
