Cindy Snow is a fictional character on the late 1970s-early 1980s sitcom Three's Company. Cindy is the first replacement for her cousin Chrissy in Jack and Janet's apartment. She is played by Jenilee Harrison and appears in the show's fifth and sixth seasons (1980-82). She was phased out to make way for Terri Alden, and the audience was led to believe that she had moved to on-campus housing at UCLA. Ironically, Priscilla Barnes, who later played Terri, had auditioned for the role of Cindy, but was turned away.

[edit] Early Life and Family
Cindy is a true Southern-California girl from Fresno, born into the Snow family, daughter of Mr. Snow (Alan Manson) and his wife, and niece of farm-owner Rebecca Madison, and Reverend Luther Snow. Christmas "Chrissy" Snow is her first cousin. Raised on a farm, she grew to have a great love of animals, and enjoyed helping her father and mother out on the farm. Though Cindy is a very pretty girl, she claims she always "played second fiddle to Chrissy, because she was so beautiful." She was raised to enjoy the Snows' many wonderful traditions, such as going to church on Sundays to hear Reverend Snow preach, and being together for lavish, old-fashioned Christmas celebrations.
[edit] Life as a Young Woman
[edit] Life in Fresno
Cindy grew into a lovely young woman, as Chrissy went off to Santa Monica to live. Cindy still had quite a monotonous life on the farm, still in her childhood home. One day Mrs. Snow found her daughter's diary and read it from start to finish - and subsequently fell asleep! She said it was the most boring thing she had ever read, and told Cindy it was a good idea if she did more with her life, and got out of Fresno. When Reverend Luther Snow's wife became ill, Chrissy came home to care for her. While Chrissy tended to her mother (a move that would soon become permanent), her roommates back in Los Angeles realized they needed a replacement roommate. That opportunity struck when Chrissy got an idea for a replacement, and Cindy's mother saw it was time for her daughter to leave home.
[edit] A New Roommate
In the 85th episode, Chrissy's Cousin, Jenilee made her debut as Cindy Snow. Cindy is a klutzy character, and has inherited the Snow Family ditziness apparent in her cousin Chrissy. At first, Jack Tripper and Janet Wood, Chrissy's roommates, worried about what it would be like to live with the klutzy farm girl, but very soon, Cindy and Janet became the best of friends, and Jack began to love Cindy like a sister. Soon it became apparent that Chrissy would be staying in Fresno permanently. She sets Cindy up with her job at her old office, working for Mr. Charles Hadley. The trio would be involved in all sorts of hilarious predicaments reminiscent of the Chrissy days, but towards the end of the season, the producers noticed Jenilee didn't have quite the stage presence to fill in for Somers. Cindy gave her last regular appearance as a roommate in the one-hundredth landmark episode, Honest Jack Tripper, the season five finale.
[edit] UCLA Co-ed
Audiences were surprised in the sixth season premiere, Jack Bares ALL (AKA Oh Nurse!), to see that Cindy was moving out of the apartment to attend UCLA. Nurse Terri Alden would be moving in. Cindy, though at school, was still a frequent appearance in the life of her friends. She becomes good friends with Terri as well. Jenilee Harrison is retained as a supporting character (and given cast billing credit) throughout the sixth season. She has many pivotal appearances through mid-season, and becomes the trio's part-time housekeeper.
[edit] Falling Out With Janet
When the creators and writers realized they had run out of ideas for Cindy's character, Jenilee was written out of the show. Her last appearance is towards the sixth season's end in Janet Wigs Out. When Janet and Cindy go shopping, Janet buys a large blonde wig which, after wearing it frequently, begins to change her whole personality. One day, after being rude and pompous toward all her friends, Janet harshly insults Cindy during a confrontation. It might be implied that since this is her last appearance on the show, Cindy became so angry at Janet that she shut her out completely, going on to live her life at UCLA, never visiting the apartment again. Janet's last words to Cindy are "Wun Awong Cindy!", meaning 'Run Along Cindy' in a mocking tone, insulting Cindy for her perceived ditziness. It is never revealed if the two moved past this disagreement, but the argument is the excuse the producers gave for Jenilee's disappearance.
