Cilegon is a major coastal industrial city in Banten province, Indonesia, and has a population of 331,872 (in 2005). Among the factories located in Cilegon are PT Krakatau Steel, a vital company in Indonesia, which produces steel for industrial (domestic and foreign) needs, and PT Asahimas Chemical.
The city is divided into 8 subdistricts: Cibeber, Cilegon, Citangkil, Ciwandan, Gerogol, Jombang, Pulo Merak, and Purwakarta.
