CIDOB Foundation

CIDOB, acronym of Center for International Relations and Development Studies (in Catalan language, Centre d’Informació i Documentació Internacionals a Barcelona, originally, but today transliterated as Centre d’Investigació de Relacions Internacionals i Desenvolupament), is a Barcelona, Spain -based foundation. It works as research, training and documentation centre on international relations and development studies.
It was registered in 1973 as a non-profit association, and in 1979 it became a private foundation with a board consisting of several public institutions and individuals. CIDOB Foundation became in 1997 a University Institute on International Studies (IUEI).
The users of CIDOB are national and international public institutions, non governmental organisations (NGOs), companies in the areas of export, financial and publishing, media, experts and professionals, university students and individuals interested in international issues.
The main geographical areas are: Latin America, Mediterranean, Arab World, Sub-Saharian Africa, Central and Eastern Europe, the former USSR and Asia. The main topics are: international politics, strategic studies, development and cooperation, intercultural relations, migrations and population and development.
Among its online services can be browsed the Biografías de Líderes Políticos (Biographies of Political Leaders), an extensive database of full-text biographies covering worldwide rulers and political leaders.
