[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Nowewarp.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Nowewarp.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator.

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you have questions about copyright tagging of images, post on Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags or User talk:Carnildo/images. 13:49, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Houses_in_Flatey.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Houses_in_Flatey.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

[edit] Icelandic þ and ð and other things

Thanks for all your work on Iceland(ic)-related topics. Concerning the use of [ð] and [θ] versus [ð̠] and [θ̠] in the IPA transcription of Icelandic words, I wanted to note that while there certainly is research which shows that these fricatives are slighly further back in the mouth than the term 'dental' suggests, it is a very fine detail so it seems unneccesary to use the more complicated characters with underscores. Please see Wikipedia:Reference desk/Language#Icelandic þ and ð (repost with more info) where I raised this question. I should have noted this before I removed the marks from Icelandic alphabet.

I also went through the IPA you put in on List of common phrases in various languages for Icelandic. You did a good work, I made only small changes, [g̊ b̥] are techincally the same as [k p], the latter is just a simpler notation; in the middle of a word there can be pre-aspiration but not post-aspiration and the 'hv'-question words have an aspirated stop [kʰ] initially. If you have any question, please ask, and if I answer incorrectly usually someone comes along shortly to correct me.

Finally, I am a litte out of my depth to answer your question at Talk:Great Vowel Shift. Stefán Ingi 19:46, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Portuguese alphabet

Hi. I noticed your edits to Portuguese alphabet. It's a good addition, but you probably did not notice that the pronunciation of the letters in Portuguese was already discussed at Portuguese orthography. A previous version of "Portuguese alphabet" also discussed pronunciation, but, after taking a look at other articles on language alphabets, I thought it was best to address only typographic issues there. While you don't have to share this opinion, I ask that you take a look at "Portuguese alphabet" and some of the other language alphabet articles, and consider moving your contributions to the other page. Regards. FilipeS

[edit] Languages

Hi There! Can you translate my name in what language you know please, and then post it Here. I would be very grateful if you do (if you know another language apart from English and the ones on my userpage please feel free to post it on) P.S. all th translations are in alpahbetical order so when you add one please put it in alpahbetical order according to the language. Thanks!!! Abdullah Geelah 16:46, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Jethro Tull

Hi! I see you moved the article Jethro Tull (band) by copying its contents to Jethro Tull. Page moves should usually be made by using the "move" tool as doing so will avoid splitting the page's revision history. In this case, however, the the article should be listed at Wikipedia:Requested moves as admin assistance is required and the move is potentially controversial. --KFP (talk | contribs) 05:26, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Images in Fermat's Last Theorem

Hi Ciacchi, in this edit, you removed an image from article Fermat's Last Theorem, indicating that it was duplicated. I have just readded it; if you look more closely, you'll see that the two images are actually different, and both are of historical interest. Cheers, Schutz 11:53, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Meclet logo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Meclet logo.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Fritz S. (Talk) 12:23, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Style guidelines for sound pages

Hello, Ciacchi. Recently CyborgTosser and I discussed and came up with proposed style guidelines for all the individual consonant and vowel pages wherein the Occurrence section would have a table rather than a bulleted list. You can see the discussion here. So far nobody else has commented on the proposed guidelines and I believe it's safer to get a solid consensus before undergoing the work to change so many pages. If you could comment on what has been proposed, even if it's a simple yay or nay, this would help us out quite a bit. Thank you very much. Ƶ§œš¹ [aɪm ˈfɻɛ̃ⁿdˡi] 06:45, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Rock music Wikiproject invitation

Hello WikiProject Metal member.
WikiProject Metal music is important in expanding encyclopedic coverage of the metal. It brings attention to the lesser-known bands, and significantly improves the quality of the famous ones. Five Featured articles and two formers is proof of that.
This is the stuff I wish to achieve with the somewhat recently resurrected WikiProject Rock music. I hope to also attract attention to rock music articles of all sorts, and hopefully change some to GA or FA status. I invite you to come join us, and embrace the links between metal and rock music in general.
Rock on.

[edit] Norse history and culture wikiproject

Wikipedia:WikiProject Vikings and Wikipedia:WikiProject History of Scandinavia both appear to be defunct at this point. I would like to set up a new Wikiproject to oversee articles on ancient and medieval Scandinavian and Nordic history that would cover what these inactive projects used to. There are literally hundreds of great articles on obscure sagas, historical figures and the like (largely through the efforts of such users as User:Berig and User:Wiglaf). Since you have edited many Norse-themed articles in the past, I would be interested in your thoughts on how best to proceed. --Briangotts (Talk) (Contrib) 21:36, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Replaceable fair use Image:Himinbjorg.jpg

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Himinbjorg.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 16:28, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Himinbjorg logo.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Himinbjorg logo.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 08:22, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Notability of Sororicide (band)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Sororicide (band), by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Sororicide (band) seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Sororicide (band), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. [edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Sororicide logo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Sororicide logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:11, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
