The Red Cunt Hair or RCH is a non-specific small unit of measure, used by engineers.[1] This tongue in cheek term is based on the concept of a pubic hair being of a small diameter. It can be used to describe a minor adjustment necessary, and is akin to terms such as 'a tad', 'a smidgen', etc.
It is thought to have originated in the late 1950s, as military slang.[2]
As red hair is generally more course than other hues, the small measurement of a single cunt hair can be further refined by declaring the necessary amount to be either the red or blonde variety - an RCH thus being a slightly greater, but still very small, measure.
The acronym 'RCH' can be used on engineering documents without explicitly declaring it's taboo meaning, thus making it an in joke.
