[edit] Tasmania article
Chuq, I noticed that in the article, you edited out the statement "80% of the population live in 3% of the states' land area." as you couldn't find any online source - this might be available on the ABS site by looking up the rural balance of Tasmania, but the figures are in CDATA software - you divide the number of people in inner regional/outer regional Tasmania by the land area, and that pretty much gives you the statistic - the next population statistic "down" from outer regional is "remote australia" - the definitions are fairly easy to find on the ABS site. If you can find something from ABS or online that's official or more accurate, by all means, please leave it in your talk box, I'd like to know too! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.176.7.23 (talk) 08:13, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] A-League all-time records
In reply to my (talk) page:
Gah, that's what happens when you get all confused with odd number of games. I think some may have been incomplete or something so I went and edited some. It seems to be fixed now by the looks of it though. Would take a fair amount of time to code that without some sort of help to make all the correct numbers appear as needed. Cheers for the correction though. Chalkstar2188 (talk) 13:59, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

there is a slight difference, there has been no Triple J Hottest 100 for 2008 and it was rather poor wording, perhaps you should word your edit summaries abit different..... --Dan027 (talk) 13:31, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Highway exits Question
- Hey Chuq, just finished another highway exits section (south arm hwy). quick question, I've left space in each one for km each intersection is from start of hwy. How would one work out distances with out a car at ones disposal? thanks mate Wiki ian 06:18, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Cricket maps
Don't worry about changing things in my sandbox, it saves me from having to make the changes later. :)
I'll create another map just for the one-day comp, two seperate maps will probably make things easier in the long run. I'll grey out the ACT on the current map and leave it on both the Pura Cup and Twenty20 as is.
For the one-day map I'm thinking about maybe using the Aus+NZ locator map and colouring that the same as the current map, and then colouring the NT orange (I think that's the state colour)? Do you think that'd be okay or would it make just things a bit confusing? Bongomanrae (talk) 07:56, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah that's what I was worried about. I ended up just leaving the NT grey and colouring NZ black. How do you like this?
This shouldn't confuse anyone at all (touch wood). Bongomanrae (talk) 07:57, 16 February 2008 (UTC) Obviously hasnt met the geographically challenged majority of eds yet :( - SatuSuro 00:07, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] BetacommandBot
I see that you dispute BetacommandBot's disputes. Good for you! I agree that it needs to be fixed. Betacommand seems disinclined to fix its problems, if only because he doesn't agree that they're problems. I'd like to get him to fix one problem -- just one. He should change his bot so that it appends multiple notices. If the last thing on a talk page is a BetacommandBot dispute, then instead of adding Yet Another dispute paragraph, it should create a list of images. This would help the bot to be less offensive at a task which requires great delicacy. Can you help me get Betacommand to realize that this change needs to happen, or if that cannot be done, to get BetacommandBot banned? RussNelson (talk) 03:43, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Hello again Chuq, just noticed you sourced a reference for the crane mis-hap on the Tasman Bridge. As i tried finding that source myself and failed, i was just wondering what search engine you use and what sorts of search parameters you type? many thanks Wiki ian 06:24, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] White elephant
Hello... sorry to disturb, but since you were in the neighbourhood... would you mind taking a look at the talk page for White elephant? An editor has been repeatedly adding text regarding two subjects that I feel are not suitable, especially in light of the recent cleanup of the page. I'd appreciate an additional opinion (either way) to help resolve this matter. Cheers. --Ckatzchatspy 22:35, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] see also
Please stop removing the see also links on the Newcastle Jets season pages. Please note in the guidelines - "however whether a link belongs in the "See also" section is ultimately a matter of editorial judgment and common sense". The see also links are directly parallel with articles in question and are therefore warranted. Jared Wiltshire (talk) 06:24, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] International Football Competition Infobox
Hello! Yeah, I was trying to fix it so that the "final positions" section doesn't show up if none of its parameters are set, but I couldn't do it yesterday. I realized today, however, that I was close to resolving the problem on my last edit that I reverted, I just missed one little thing (forgot to use }} ). But now it works, I guess, at least the the old revision of 2010 FIFA World Cup that was using the original template instead of the "future event" one shows up fine :-) ARTYOM 09:34, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
- Another user posted a note about it on the template's talk page. I added |champion_other, |second_other, |third_other and |fourth_other parameters, which can be used if the winning team is not in the {{fb}} template. The values of the parameters should be the original code instead of just winning country (e.g. {{fbw|Germany}}). Note that the template is called "Infobox International Football Competition", so it probably shouldn't be used for, let's say, basketball competitions, although it can also perfectly serve for that purpose :) ARTYOM 10:01, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
- I guess we could make it so that it doesn't automatically wrap the winner into {{fb}} template instead of introducing |champion_other parameter. Yet if you look at Special:Whatlinkshere/Template:Infobox International Football Competition, you will notice that the template is used on mostly national men's team competitions, so there will only be a small number of articles that will require the usage of "_other" parameters. ARTYOM 11:48, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Seasons articles
Even the Mariners' ones are trashy. I seriously don't know what a good season article would look like, but I'll see if I can get this years' Central Coast one looking half decent over the next week or so. Daniel (talk) 08:06, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Association Football (soccer)
Why are you revert warring with 121.219.30.130 over this? It's OK to use "football" further down in articles, but soccer is the common name in Australian English and therefore should always be mentioned in the first sentence. Grant 06:25, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Template:Hobart suburbs
hi Chuq, When creating the hobart suburbs template i added the area of sorell and the suburb of midway point, this was quickly removed and at the time i agreed that i didn't count as part of the greater area of hobart. However after seeing countless webpages Stating the opposite (eg [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6]) i have decided to re-add these areas to the template. I'm making you aware of this in advance on the odd chance you see the changes and dont like them. If you're unhappy with the examples I've provided just google "greater hobart" + "sorell" for many more. if you still disagree please reply to my talk page so we can reach consensus on the issue. Kind Regards, Wiki ian 02:18, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Football in Australian English
Have a squiz at the entry for "football" in the Macquarie Dictionary, which lists all the games known as football in Australia. It notes that football = soccer is growing. It also says that Aussie rules and rugby league are the games most commonly known as football. Therefore, for the moment at least, whether one is in Tasmania, WA, NSW, Vic, Qld, SA, NT or ACT, the common name of the game is soccer, regardless of what the FFA, a few bureaucrats or a handful of Sydney-based journos may decree. Grant 06:16, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
- Yep, the IP is me. I have barred myself for several weeks to reduce the ridiculous amount of time I spend here. Unfortunately the pommie-dominated Wikipedia
soccerAssociation football fraternity have decreed that "football (soccer)" is unacceptable. I find "Association football" unacceptable because no layperson calls it that and WP policy is use common names. I don't think "Association football (soccer)" is "overly descriptive" or "messy and unnecessary", although "football (soccer)" would be better. Grant 17:43, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Speedy deletion of Template:Aus dom cricket seasons
A tag has been placed on Template:Aus dom cricket seasons requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.
If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).
Thanks. --MZMcBride (talk) 04:30, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Triple J banner.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Triple J banner.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:11, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] A-League
I understand your point, but I don't see why you need to do that when I already did the work to make a template that already does everything you need it to do. It's a modified version of the MLS infobox, which itself was only a modified version of the football league infobox. All I did was better format the terminology for the MLS, and since most of those differences are held in common between the MLS and A-League, I don't understand why they can't just share the same solution. I just don't want you do have to do more work than necessary. -- Grant.Alpaugh 23:52, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
