Churmuri

Churmuri is a light snack food prepared out of puffed rice mixed with some seasonings of onions, spices, pepper, etc. It is typical of southern and eastern India namely, Karnataka,West Bengal, etc. Churmuri is very popular in the southern state of Karnataka. Mandakki, Mundalu and other varieties of Churmuri or puffed rice are the favourite eats of the people of North Karnataka. And it is common to find the lip-smacking churmuri or puffed rice everywhere - from a gossip den to fairs and festivals, marriages and other meetings. Being an affordable food, puffed rice has become a part and parcel of the lives of Karnataka residents. It is a healthy snack often enjoyed with a cup of hot coffee or tea in Karntaka. Churmuri is a familiar word for Bangaloreans and Mysoreans, street vendors sell puffed rice mixed with seasonings and served in a newspaper rolled as cones. Churmuri can have a number of toppings.The combinations of finely chopped oninons, chopped cilantro, grated carrots and dry roasted peanuts is one of the most popular topping for churmuri.
