[edit] Athletics

The Greenwave (whose mascot is a giant fighting wave , representing the Alfalfa crops grown all over the county)compete in the High Desert League of the Northern Nevada 4A Region, which is the large school level.

Bethany Ellis was named the Lahontan Valley Female Athlete of the Year in 2006 and wrapped up a successful softball career, in summer 2006, as a catcher/outfielder at Churchill County High with a .414 batting average and a .624 slugging percentage with 40 RBIs. [edit] Discipline

In November 2006 closed circuit television was installed, the first school in the state to have such a comprehensive system, and has proven effective in enhancing discipline.[9]

This was needed since according to a regional survey, almost 7% of Churchill County students have used methamphetamine, and anecdotal data points to a number closer to 15%.[10]
