Churchill Boys' High School is a single-gender high school located in the Eastlea suburb of Harare, Zimbabwe. The school is well-known for having the first school pipe band in Zimbabwe and producing cricket players of a national and international caliber.
At one time, the school's pipe band was in the Guinness Book of Records for the longest piping hours. Pipers Neville Workman, Patrick Forth, Paul Harris and Clive Higgins blew their pipes for a combined 100 hours, breaking the previous record of 80 hours.[citation needed]

[edit] History
Founded in 1950 as Salisbury East Boys' High School, headmaster E.J. 'Jeeves' Hougaard helped inspire most of Churchill's traditions. Hougaard is credited with establishing the name of the school and its affiliation to Winston Churchill and his family, and the school mascot, the bulldog. The boarding House which had about 80 pupils, was called Winston House. The games houses (Akroyd, Beumont, Cardell, Hamilton, Maxwell and Wakeham) are named after pilots who died in the Battle of Britain. The schools' good standing amongst the list of educational institutions run by the state in Zimbabwe has been largely attributed to its observance of a long history of tradition that emphasis duty, moral character, respect for ones' elders, and a balance between academic and sporting achievements. consequently, the school has produced a crop of young gentlemen that have had a disproportionate impact on their country and their region over the years.

[edit] Volleyball
Since 2001, when Coach Arron Mutede joined Churchill, the school has won all schools tournaments and joined the Harare Volleyball League in 2004, where the school boys played vs. men as a club. By then they were known as The Churchill Bulldogs Volleyball Club with all players at schools. In 2004 they won the Division 1 Men's League, becoming the only school in Africa with a school volleyball team playing and beating men's volleyball teams. Mr. HMW CHAUKE is the Club chairman.
Now the team is made up of mainly Old Boys and called The Winstonian Bulldogs Volleyball Club. It is currently ranked second at the CAVB Zone VI Club Championships. Six players are on the National Team.
