Chupacabra (drink)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Chupacabra (drink) is a shot served with Tequila and chilled Jagermeister.

[edit] History

The Chupacabra shot originated in a resort in the Mayan Riviera near the town of Playa del Carmen.

[edit] Alternatives

Chupacabra Verde is served with a dose of green pepper sauce. The Chupacabra Amarillo is then obviously served with yellow pepper sauce (often the hottest hot sauce).

Another less known version of the cocktail (popular with the home brew beer crowd) is also rumored to have been served on the rocks at a few drinking establishments in Northern California. The base of the drink, tequila, is maintained, but the caramel flavor offered by Jagermeister is substituted with a combination of cola and spiced rum. A dash of maraschino cherry juice is added to represent the blood, and the cocktail is garnished with a cherry and lime wedge, to represent an eyeball and a slice of the victim's flesh...the chupacabra, is afterall a menacing blood sucking beast.
