Chuhar Chak

Chuhar chak is a large village located in Punjab, India, in the Moga District.


This village(surrounded by Dhudike(1km),Daudhar(2km), Daangian(1.5km), KaonkeKalan(2km),NanaksarKaleran(3km), GalibKalan(4km),KilliChahlan(2km),Ajitwal(nearest Railway Station)(2km))


consists of several pattees,for example, Gill(mainly of Gills),Meharmian&Tughal(Sidhus &some Dhaliwals) Kaler(of Kaler & some Baaths),Dhuri(Gills,Cheemas & few Aulakhs)The village has a large population of low caste families; one locality(vehra) on southwest has Balmiki Chuhras or MazhbiSikhs and Ramdaasia Chamaars who populate this also have another locality on northern side close to Mandir and big pond(chhappar) and big banyan(bohar) tree. A baania bazaar populated by Goels in the middle and a good smattering of brahmans(called baahmns) allover. About 20 baazigar families Kehru with 12 siblings live here. More than 20 families live in New Chuhar Chak right on Moga-Jagraon between Chuhar Chak and Galib Kalan.

The village has Captain Gurditt Singh Govt. Senior Secondary School(affiliated to PSEB Mohali), it was established as Khalsa High School, in 1904.An ITI for Girls. Most of the students from the village go to Govt College, Dhudike for their graduation in Arts (earlier in Science nonmedical also)

Dr.Darshan Singh Harvinder is a modern freelance Punjabi journalist accredited with Press Information Bureau(PIB)Govt. of India.Dr.Harvinder a veteran print media personality and writer, was with Punjabi Tribune for almost two decades.Associated with various newspapers and periodicals including 'Punjab Kesari' group publications from Delhi and electronic media.He started his graduation from Lala Lajpat Rai Govt. College Dhudike and completed it from LRM College Jagraon.He got his Ph.D from Panjab University Chandigarh on 'Punjabi Culture in Shiv Kumar Batalvi's poetry'.His contributing weekly column "Dilli De Jharokhe Chon" in Punjabi Tribune and other publications was widely read and acclaimed by the masses and had been adjudged as the best news column among the punjabi readers worldwide. Dr.Harvinder was awarded Delhi state award for journalism in the year 1990-91.In the year 2000 he ventured into the electronic media as Director of 'Channel Punjabi' and is associated with many successful TV channels since then.He also launched DSH Teleworld Network (Pvt.) Ltd. In 2005 and released "Delhi To Nankana"(a travel documentary about the historical nagar kirtan from New Delhi to Nankana Sahib in Pakistan).Fondly known as 'Dr.Sahab' among his friends and colleagues, Dr.Harvinder is a soft spoken,kind,helpful and a charming personality.

Jagjit Singh ChuharChak of Mahi Munda fame was a promising Punjabi film artist
