Chuan (surname)

Chuan, Quan (in Mainland China), Chuen (in Cantonese pronunciation) (Chinese: 全; pinyin: quán) is a rare Chinese family name. The Chuan (Quan, Chuen) surname first apeared in Shaanxi Province using the homophone character 泉( meaning water spring). However for unknown reasons, the family changed it to 全 many centuries later.
