[edit] Mention of Helena in main Eurovision Song Contest article
Kalispera, Chronisgr :)
Thank you very much for your interest in the Eurovision article, and in Helena. I share your enthusiasm for Helena: I was there in Kiev when she won, with her song which was very good.
May I please ask you, however, that if you want to do such things as replacing Ruslana's name on the "successful winners" list, then you discuss the issue on the talk page of the article first? There is no hard rule which specifies how much success an artist shuld have for inclusion in this list: but if you want to propose one, then please go ahead, and then other people will be happy to talk about it with you. Thank you. EuroSong talk 00:13, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
Hello there:) I'm a fan of Helena but i that doesn't mean that i'm not fair on the subject about who's succesful winner or who's not. Helena is one of them if you compare her with the previous winners... --Chronisgr 21:22, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
- Hi.. I got your message on my talk page. I think it would be better to continue the discussion on Talk:Eurovision Song Contest, because it is an interesting issue which involves other Wikipedians too. Thanks. EuroSong talk 09:51, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
- In the meantime, I have re-added (H)elena to the list, since we do not actually yet have a firm policy on this. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. EuroSong talk 10:19, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RE: Helena Paparizou's Mambo in Ireland
The way I know is that for major releases, Ireland and the UK always have the same releases. A lot of the distributors are merged for them anyway - as far as I know Sony BMG's division for the two is Sony BMG UK & Ireland - only a few bother to seperate the two e.g. UMG. It's more than an assumption - it's common knowledge. Nearly all UK or Irish channels are available in both, while the MTV channels are intended for both (see MTV UK and Ireland). And I'm not exactly sure what you mean by my userpage. Do you mean the userboxes? - Рэдхот 19:22, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
- Actually I just noticed that Sony BMG have actually split Sony BMG UK & Ireland into SONY BMG MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT (UK) LIMITED and SONY BMG MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT (IRELAND) LIMITED (must have been quite recently) but the point still stands. - Рэдхот 19:24, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, I just realised now, they haven't really - just on paper. If you go to sonybmg.ie the only useful link relating to Sony BMG is one to sonybmgmusic.co.uk. - Рэдхот 19:27, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
- I see. That makes it marginally less likely, but still overwhelmingly likely. It's like, if it was gonna be Sony BMG it was like 99% likely, now its just 97%. - Рэдхот 19:30, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
- (I keep forgetting bits!) The userboxes are pretty easy, just see WP:UB. - Рэдхот 19:31, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
- (I forgot ANOTHER bit) Looking at AATW's artists it goes back up to 99% likely as Cascada, Dannii Minogue, and Frankee have all had popular releases in Ireland. I did some searching on iTunes Ireland and all the other artists I checked were available for purchase too. - Рэдхот 19:34, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
- Ok I've now fully investigated AATW's artists. All the ones that are released, are on iTunes Ireland with AATW listed as the copyright holder. - Рэдхот 19:38, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
- Because they're releases are on iTunes Ireland which is one of the few places where the Irish and UK catalogues are seperate. This is the OFFICIAL Irish Singles Chart as of now (look at #1 and #5) [1] - Рэдхот 19:43, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
- But notice it doesn't mention Ireland at all. Small-ish labels based in the UK usually don't. It's a bit messy cause Ireland has different release dates. It doesn't mention Cascada or Mick Modell VS Jessy in Ireland either but they're on the chart. It's probably to do with who distributes their CDs for them (it's probably not themselves since they're probably too small to make it economically feasable) - Рэдхот 19:54, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
- I don't really know what kind of proof you want. I've shown you they've had popular releases in Ireland, and they don't mention Irish releases for them on their site, so in the very likely event that Mambo! will be released in Ireland, it won't be any different. - Рэдхот 19:56, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
- Ok. Now I'm very confused. I've provided you with proof that AATW do have releases in Ireland, despite not saying it on their site. Yet you still seem to doubt it. I live in Ireland and know a great deal about Irish releases, and their relationship to UK ones, and can very close to guarantee you that it will be out in Ireland. But for the sake of absolute cetainty, I've e-mailed AATW to be completely, 100%, no-doubt, positively certain. - Рэдхот 20:17, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] October
Not to be nit-picking or anything, but I'd just like you to watch your spelling when adding to articles. I just noticed that on two occassions you spelled October as Octomber when adding to articles. Just thought I'd bring it to your attention :) - Рэдхот 13:32, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Mambo Chart Position
Hi there. I buy an industry publication called Charts Plus that gives you the weekly top 200s each week and I got its position from there. I don't know if the position is noted elsewhere on the web yet although by the end of next year, it will be listed on www.zobbel.de Triangle e 13:41, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
- Yes it's the singles chart. I'm afraid that 185 will be it now for the single. It's unlikely to climb any higher.
[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:07 final 97.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:07 final 97.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Fair use rationale for Image:611249.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:611249.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Betacommand (talk • contribs • Bot) 04:37, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Unspecified source for Image:611249.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:611249.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 04:37, 26 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Betacommand (talk • contribs • Bot) 04:37, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Not Too Late
Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. However, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Not Too Late, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Extraordinary Machine 14:08, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
- Firstly, please do not insert original research into Wikipedia articles. That means you can't use your own "logic" to deduce something; you can only add something that is supported by a reliable source (which you should insert into the article). Secondly, certifications are awarded not for over-the-counter sales, but for bulk shipments to retailers. For example, Norah Jones's Not Too Late may have sold 1.3 million copies in the U.S. (according to Nielsen SoundScan, which doesn't cover all retailers), but that doesn't stop it from being certified for having two million copies shipped to retailers — it simply means a few hundred thousand copies of the album are sitting on the shelves. However, even if a certain number of copies of an album have been shipped to retailers, it does not automatically receive the relevant certification — again, using the Not Too Late example, it may have sold more than 100,000 copies in Japan, but that doesn't mean it is certified for that amount. The record label has to apply for the album to be certified, and they are not necessarily obliged to do this. I hope you understand. Extraordinary Machine 14:28, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
Please do not add content without citing reliable sources, as you did to Dirrty. Before making potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Thank you. 17Drew 04:29, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
- Please do not add unsourced or original content, as you did to Ain't No Other Man. Doing so violates Wikipedia's verifiability policy. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. 17Drew 21:45, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
- The warning was in response to this edit, where you didn't cite a source that the single was certified platinum. www.ifpi.gr does not say anything about "Ain't No Other Man"; it is a splash screen. Plus, the Greek Singles Chart should not be included in most tables of chart positions anyway, since Wikipedia:Record charts recommends using only a dozen or so countries, and Greece makes up a fraction of one percent of the world music market. 17Drew 16:18, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
- If information is not verifiable, it does not belong on Wikipedia. I've generally seen countries such as Ireland or New Zealand are generally included since this is an English language encyclopedia. 17Drew 21:05, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Image:0000823064.jpg
I have tagged Image:0000823064.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. ~ Wikihermit 01:30, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Mambofrenchpromocd2bf6.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Mambofrenchpromocd2bf6.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Hi Chronisgr, if this is in response to the above message, I sent it because you changed My Kind of Christmas' sales from 3 million to 1.5 despite the source saying 3. And you're right about Wild Dances (song). It's not right to add certifications & peak positions without sources. Any unreferenced material you challenge can simply be removed. I know a lot of people don't follow WP:V, but it's just the way the rules are. Spellcast 22:37, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
Done. I removed all charts and certifications not supported by the cited source. If you need any more help or whatever, just leave a message. Cheers. Spellcast 23:00, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Oh Mother
Hey,
First of all, I wanna say that it's quite my opinion, but TRL Italy had to remove the video from the playlist, because they couldn't sent the video! Neither France, Spain, the UK ore the rest of Europe are sending the video on music channels and the only Sony BMG to talk about this new single was the German one. On the British official site of Christina Aguilera there are no info about Oh Mother, while on the German it has been posted since a long time news about Oh Mother. That's why I think that Oh Mother was and will only be released in German-speaking-countries. Of course it could be that the other European countries will release this single in future, but I don't think so. Olliyeah (talk) 20:46, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
Well, it's happening quite often that a musician is releasing a song only in those countries, for example Nelly Furtado. Hmmm, there isn't such a mess. I saw bigger problems. =) By the way, I changed the things I know they aren't right. Olliyeah (talk) 20:55, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, of course her Live-DVD will be released in all European countries!! =) Have you deleted the info about the Singapore chart..?!Olliyeah (talk) 21:14, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
no no..it wasn't me! but why did you delete it..?! it's true and it has been confirmed.. and another question.. did you write that the video of Oh Mother is airing in the UK..?! it's just a question- I have no idea XD Olliyeah (talk) 19:27, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
hmm...the source for the sales in Singapore is in the reception part.. Olliyeah (talk) 17:04, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Macedonian Airplay Chart
Please stop removing the Macedonian Airplay Chart from the list. This seems nothing more than an act of nationalism on your part as you claim this is not the "official" airplay chart yet you have provided no evidence to the support your claim. This is in fact the official airplay chart if not the official singles chart of the Republic of Macedonia as it is the only active one in the country. Please refer to this link, clicking on Greece redirects to the official Greek singles chart and clicking on Macedonia redirects to the Antenna5 Hit Parade, no? So until you can prove to me that this is not an official chart of any sort in the Republic of Macedonia and therefore what is, please do not remove that particular section because it is quite obvious you are only doing so because you hate your northern neighbour. Köbra 04:23, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
- Also, if you by "plus there are many charts already" you mean there are enough charts that there is no need for the Macedonian Airplay Chart, that also sounds like a really bad excuse for the same reasons mentioned above. Köbra Talk 04:39, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, Antenna5 is a radio station, but it also produces the official airplay chart in the Republic of Macedonia. This chart is published in magazines and it is also the only one used by United World Chart. Now why would they only publish one radio station's chart in every weekly magazine in the Republic of Macedonia? It is you who is mixing music with politics, I noticed that you have had people warn you for vandalizing music articles related to the Republic of Macedonia, such as changing the name to Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. This is an encyclopedia, like it or leave it. Köbra Talk 11:53, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
- I really don't want to discuss the name issue with you, that's not what I'm about, I just want to find a reasonable solution to this dilemma. If you may point me to what is the official singles or airplay chart, then you've obviously proved that this one isn't it. Köbra Talk 12:05, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
- On an earlier note, I did not "compare" the Greek chart with the Macedonian one, what I said was was that the website of "World Charts" directs to the official Greek chart for "Greece" and the Antenna5 chart for "Macedonia". By the way, use of the word "Skopje" to advocate the Republic of Macedonia I do not take likely, seeing as you claim you are not a nationalist. Köbra Talk 12:31, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
- Once again, I don't think you understood me correctly. What I am trying to say to you is that this "radio station" hosts the official singles chart in the country. The Republic of Macedonia is a very small country, I doubt that is even a music institution which monitors the activity of singles and albums. Antenna5 also hosts the "Mak Top 5" list, which is the official Macedonian singles chart for Macedonian language songs. It also hosts the MTV Adria Top 2 list. How do you know that the Antenna5 Hit Parade is not just what they wanted to call the chart? Seeing as this station is the only national one in the country, I wouldn't be surprised if it was an official one, considering also the list is published in magazines, much like the Billboard Hot 100. I mean, if they're only displaying what songs they play, then why are people voting for them, isn't this the means by which airplay charts are made? Votes? And one more thing, I never said you replaced the name "Republic of Macedonia" with "Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia" and "FYR Macedonia", which is what you claim I said. What you were warned about is for expanding "FYR Macedonia" (which the user from "Skopje" was fine with) to "Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia", it obviously angers you to see the constitutional name of the country in place of it's NATO one, which in fact is not the "official" name of the country, it was only adopted in NATO and the EU to make Greece happy when dealing with affairs between the two countries. I think the person with the "doctor" suggestion may be on to something, because you have a bad case of twisting people's words. P.S. Sorry for the overly long comment. Köbra Talk 03:25, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Oh Mother
Hey, I think we already knew each other...hehe Well, Croatia doesn't have an own charts site and this blog shows the sales of the Croatian music business, which are made by Billboard. Those grafics are made by Billboard and were copied from their site. I'm sorry, but I wasn't the one, who deleted the Airplay charts!! But usually you delete the Airplay sites, when an official single chart is there! I know it's annoying, but wikipedia wants it so. Olliyeah (talk) 23:12, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Balkans article sanctions
In a 2007 arbitration case, administrators were given the power to impose discretionary sanctions on any user working on articles concerning the Balkans. Before any such sanctions are imposed, editors are to be put on notice of the decision. This notice is issued in view of your edits to Kosovo. Please note that you may be blocked if you continue to edit disruptively. -- ChrisO (talk) 22:13, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Removal of chart data
Do not remove valid chart data when sources are provided, as you did to "Sweet Sacrifice" and "Good Enough", as it is considered vandalism. Both articles had sources attached for the respective numbers, and you provided no reason for removing them in the first place.
Now, to answer the questions you left on my talk page. First, the Turkish figure came from the source provided with it, namely an issue of Billboard Turkiye. Second, for The Open Door, I do not know where the U.S. figure of 2.1 million came from; I apologise for reverting that change earlier, so feel free to change it back to 1.9 per the album article. As for the 5 million worldwide, I presume it came from the source attached to it, listed as accessed in late 2007. I would *not* change that, because we must assume the source is correct as of the date provided. I watch the page and always try to remove information that is unsourced.
Anyway, the primary issue is that you are replacing unsourced information with additional unsourced information, which makes it no more correct than the information you are replacing. If you are getting your information from somewhere, then provide that source. I'd be more than willing to help you format citations and/or the data itself, but please do not simply throw numbers out there and claim it is correct. — Huntster (t • @ • c) 04:40, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Bleeding Love
Please stop changing the portuguese chart, the one you keep adding is not the official one, plus ukmix is a forum so that is not considered a valid source.

[edit] Bulgarian National Top 40
Stop removing Bulgarian National Top 40 chart. The chart is controled by APC-stats not from "djcharly". --BGTopDon (talk) 20:44, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
“ | Hi,
The idea was born in 2007 as the Bulgarian (radio) market wanted an independent and clear view on the music scene in the country. The formula of the chart is based on crosscounter sales, paid-downloads and airplay. The result leads to a stable and reliable chart, which gives a good picture of the Bulgarian music market. Kind regards, Pieter van de Laar Chartmanager |

[edit] Porta Gia Ton Ourano (song)
What is going on? Why do you keep adding itunes to the page and saying that its available everywhere? First of all, its not available on iTunes or mpgreek. And the site you provided is not a mainstream site, its some random website that probably has a radio rip or a leaked version. Even if it is available for digital download, all you would need to do is change the date to match when it was released for digital download. Did you look at the page before you edited it? Adding iTunes makes absolutely no sense, and thats why me, panagiotis, and greekboy have been taking it out. If you would like to explain, leave a note on my talk page. Grk1011 (talk) 18:55, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- um, if it is released, where is your source? you say that it was released in april but instead of changing its release date to the one that you think it is, you change the article to say that it is only available on itunes. THAT is what doesnt make sense. Also, I'm not the one who adds itunes charts. Grk1011 (talk) 19:09, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- I would understand if you changed the date to your claimed release date but adding a small itunes didnt make much sense. Sony BMG releases their songs through their partner, mpgreek. The song is only avalible on 2 sites as an xlcusive downloads, its not officially released yet. Sony maintains that may 2 (may 3rd at the latest) (read it in a fan club email) the song will be officially released to all digital download stores, not just itunes who will also get it on that date. Grk1011 (talk) 19:29, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- I know that it was released early somwhere, but the digital download release is its official release which is soon and not only itunes. if we have a source for the early ones then its safe to add them. An early release doesnt mean its available and you have to get it early, its just a marketing thing for those sites, the official will go in the chart. Grk1011 (talk) 19:54, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- I got my info from sony bmg! They release their songs through mpgreek which is "their" digital store, they have a contract with them. The itunes release does not make it the official release, rather its in itunes because it is released officially by sony. I have the song too, but it STILL has not been officially released regardless of whether some stores are already selling it.Grk1011 (talk) 21:02, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- I don't think your getting it. Regardless of whether its available now, its has not been "officially" released. The release history is only for that date. Grk1011 (talk) 22:30, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- It has not. You even said it yourself that its not in iTunes which is the biggest. It will be officially released when it is on mpgreek. mpgreek has a contract with sony unlike any of the other digital download sites. if you click download on the sony website, it will take you to mpgreek. Once again, just because its available does not mean that it was officially released. Grk1011 (talk) 22:36, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- when did it become a majority of stores? Send me a link for where your getting this information Sony BMG and the releases from and if it checks out we can add it to the article. Grk1011 (talk) 23:28, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- lets just wait it out because i asked you to tell me where you got the info from and you tell me some guy from sony. on wikipedia, things need to be verifiable. I cant go ask the guy myself, so thats why you need to give me a link to a website, otherwise for all i know you could be making it up (i no your prob not). Grk1011 (talk) 00:46, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

I have been following this argument, and this is my opinion - The release date on the song page, should be the release date from the OFFICIAL Sony BMG Music store. Currently, it is only available on those 2 sites you provided as "exclusive" downloads. This how ever, is NOT the official release. The official release is the one on the Sony BMG Music store at: http://musicstore.sonybmg.gr/ The Sony Music store has a contract with MPGreek (It is "powered by mpGreek") But anyway, I repeat, the release date on the article should be only the release date from the Sony BMG digital music store. iTunes does not matter in this argument. It doesnt matter what day it is released on iTunes. It only matters what date it is released on the official Sony BMG Music store. Please respond at: Grk1011 (talk) if you want, to keep everything together. Greekboy (talk) 01:17, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

- Actually, he didnt inform me. I have his talk page on my watch list. Anyway, regardless of what someone from Sony told you from an email, that is not considered a verifiable source by wikipedia. And you dont seem to have a firm date for the release in April. So putting April wouldnt work. I repeat though, MPGREEK, has a contract with SONY BMG GREECE to officially release the songs. Since they have the contract and run the Sony BMG store, the date they release it (not iTunes, not Musichellas, not e-something, not 123play, not any other digital store) should be listed as the official release date. The other stores mean nothing. The SONG BMG MUSIC STORE is the one that matters --- the one that will be the official release date. ALSO, please respond at GRK1011's TALK PAGE TO keep everything together. lol. Greekboy (talk) 01:27, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Editing Tip
If you want to undo several edits as you did on My Number One, then go to the history, click on the date of the version you want, then when that old page opens up, click edit and then save. It will override all edits since that version and return the page to that version. Grk1011 (talk) 03:39, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
