[edit] December 2007
Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Menudo (band). When removing text, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the text has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Alexfusco5 23:20, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
Please do not delete content from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Menudo (band), without explaining the reason for the removal in the edit summary. Unexplained removal of content does not appear constructive, and your edit has been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox for test edits. Thank you. Please do not delete that info again. The info is sourced and should remain in the article. If you want to remove it please first discuss it on the talk page Alexfusco5 23:25, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
Please stop. If you continue to blank out or delete portions of page content, templates or other materials from Wikipedia, as you did to Menudo (band), you will be blocked from editing. DO NOT remove that info anymore it is sourced information Alexfusco5 23:27, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Menudo (band). Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Alexfusco5 23:29, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
Your recent edits to User talk:Alexfusco5 could give editors of Wikipedia the impression that you may consider legal or other "off-wiki" action against them, or against Wikipedia itself. Please note that this is strictly prohibited under Wikipedia's policies on legal threats and civility. Users who make such threats may be blocked. If you have a genuine dispute with the Community or its members, please use dispute resolution. Alexfusco5 23:39, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Legal threats
Please, please, please read no legal threats. I was going to block you straight off for the note you just left here. You may discuss any issues you have with content if and only if you retract your threat; if you are not willing to do so, please read the instructions on that page. Thank you, Antandrus (talk) 23:40, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Blocked
You are blocked until you retract your legal threat. Please read no legal threats. You may edit this page. Issues of content on the article can be resolved on the talk page. You may request that "negative" or "incorrect" information be sourced per our sourcing policies, which should solve the problem. Thank you, Antandrus (talk) 23:45, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
- I have already removed the legal threat from my talk page Alexfusco5 23:48, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
Listen please, this is very real. I apologize for not knowing the proper way that things are done around here but it is extremely important that this person, Darren McGillis's content not be allowed to remain. This individual is making persoanl attacks which I know are not allowed on your system. If you doubt me, please go to: www.menudo.biz , a website that this individual has built in the last two days with the sole purpose of personal attacks against the two injured parties here, Sony Music Corp and Menudo Entertainment LLC.
Please tell me hopw I should proceed to properly resolve this.
Thank you.
- I accept your apology. To properly resolve this issues discuss it on Talk:Menudo (band) Alexfusco5 00:00, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
Okay, assuming you went to menudo.biz and realized the type of individual that we are up against, how do I proceed to remove his content?
- You're unblocked now: thanks for the note.
- Please go to the article talk page. With controversial content, we require a reliable, published source (see WP:CITE). You can remove things that don't have one, but you're always better off to discuss it on the talk page and make sure everyone understands what you are doing first. Cheers, Antandrus (talk) 00:15, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for unblocking me first off. Second, this content is pure speculation, 21 years-old, coming from tabloids. Why does it warrant being in the current section it is placed in as well as being on the site at all. In fact... On your own Wikipedia page, under the 199o's heading, third paragraph, is this quote:
"Also in 1991, New York Photographer Bolivar Arellano, was arrested and later convicted in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Arellano was ordered jailed by the San Juan Court until he provided the Judge with proof that he had placed a Half Page advertisement in a San Juan Newspaper stating the accusations he himself made were false. He had made accusations that Menudo members were being sexually abused."
Obviously, you can see that these are old, unfounded allegations that are being posted in a malicious manner.
Also, this quote under the 2000's heading, last paragraph:
"Released 2007, on McGillis Records is the release of Triple Threat DVD/CD Combo [1]. The box set includes the MENUDO film The Making of Dancin Movin Shakin for the first time on DVD. Also included is Volume One of the Music CD "Latin Teen Stars" featuring hit songs by Menudo, ex-menudo members Angelo Garcia and Ruben Gomez, The Cover Girls, Explosion, and Joel. The last CD included in the 3 disc set is Dance Music All Night Long containing dance mixes of the hottest traxs by Menudo and ex-menudo members mixed by the famed American music producers: Bad Boy Bill, Lewis A. Martinee of Expose fame and New Yorks very own Mickey Garcia."
This is nothing more than an advertisement and should also be removed.
Thanks in advance!
Also... Now that we're friends again, this individual will undoubtably try to add that content back in. How can we lock him out of the process? And I tried to edit some info that was incorrect and my account is still blocked. Didn't Antandrus unblock it just now?
I'm sorry, one more thing; at the bottom of the page, under the External Links heading, there is a link: "History of Menudo Gay Sex Scandal Reported in The New York Daily Newspaper" which links to his personal attack webpage, menudo.biz where he goes after the president of Epic Records, Charlie Walk as well as others. Can we also have that removed please?
- You're no longer blocked, but the page is protected, due to edit wars from multiple users (see the page log). You are still able to edit the article's talk page, and if you ask on that talk page in future, other users will be able to see your requests easier. Also, the page should be unprotected in less than 24 hours, so after then you should be able to edit it yourself. I'll make the edit you requested. :) --Dreaded Walrus t c 01:31, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
Christopher, I agree with you that the allegations should be removed. The only reliable source I see referenced on the page is a single mention in the NY Times. All the other things appear to be posts on a personal website.
There is a thread about this now on the Administrators' Noticeboard here. Please feel free to contribute. I believe you have a legitimate case; unfounded, unsourced allegations are non-compliant with our strict policy on biographies of living persons, and we take this stuff seriously. All you have to do is state your case calmly and respectfully and there will be plenty of sensible people to help. Best regards, Antandrus (talk) 02:20, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
I have saved this page and forwarded it to Mr. McGillis who is the owner of www.mcgillismusic.com he has informed me that he will be calling Mr. Jimbo Wales who he has spoken with over the past year on other issues. Chris you have libeled Mr. McGillis with your comment above by calling him a "nut job" all the articles are sourced stories and you will lose this argument these are facts not fiction. If the following adminstrators will allow this with Alex above seeing what you are doing as trying to delete yes scandal but sourced info is wrong. this is not a fan site it is PDF documents of ORIGINAL stories. --Blue5864 (talk) 02:54, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
Once again gentlemen, can we ignore the above paragraph by Darrin McGillis (Blue5864) and at the bottom of the Menudo page, under the External Links heading, there is a link: "History of Menudo Gay Sex Scandal Reported in The New York Daily Newspaper" which links to his personal attack webpage, menudo.biz (fan site) where he goes after the president of Epic Records, Charlie Walk as well as others. Can we also have that removed please?
Thank you
- I removed the link earlier in the day (and another link which redirected to a site already linked), but it was reinserted, and now the page is protected from editing. You are still able to edit the talk page, however, so if you have an edit you would like to request, go to the talk page, and use {{editprotected}}. Hope this helps. :) --Dreaded Walrus t c 08:41, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
So let me make sure I understand this.... You removed the link, someone reinserted it, and now nobody including you admins can remove it?
I would go to the talk page to request this but there is still an autoblock on my account and I am only able to post here. Can you have the block removed as Antandrus intended it to be done several hours ago? Thank you.
- Sorry, I wasn't aware you were autoblocked, I thought you were just trying to edit the fully-protected page. I would like to make it clear that I am not and admin, I'm just a regular user, the same as you. There are two levels of protection, semi-protection and full protection. Semi-protection stops IP addresses and new accounts (something like three days old) from editing a page, whereas full protection stops all regular users from editing a page. The Menudo page is currently fully protected. --Dreaded Walrus t c 15:35, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
Thank you Dreaded Walrus, both for your continued patience and clear thinking in this matter, as well as your time in explaining all of this to a complete novice. 76.108.146.149 (talk) 18:01, 8 December 2007 (UTC)Christopher R (talk) 18:03, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- No problem. We were all new at one point, so I just try to treat people the same way I was treat when I was new. If you have any questions or need help with any aspect of editing Wikipedia, feel free to ask me, either here, or on my talk page. Dreaded Walrus t c 18:04, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Your recent edits
Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 19:23, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 24 hour block
I have blocked you for 24 hours for violating your ban on editing Menudo. When your 24 hours is up, please restrict yourself solely to making polite comments on the talk page. To remind you, you are banned from editing articles relating to Menudo or the music industry.--Jimbo Wales (talk) 05:21, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
I apologize Jim. The entire page really needs rewriting but I have refrained from submitting anything whatsoever out of respect for the ban placed on my account. Updating the external links seemed a reasonable alternative but I shall now desist from pretty much doing anything at all.
For the record, I myself, and the companies I work for have no legal axe to grind with anyone (including Darrin McGillis). We are not actively engaged in any dispute whatsoever and my interest has been solely to update the page with current information. I cannot and will not speak for what motivates Mr McGillis. Unfortunately, due to the nature of what makes Wikipedia great, changes and updates are not always completed with accurate, unbiased information. Such was the occaision that drew me to begin this fiasco: Mr McGillis chose to edit in and imply participation on the current, well-behaved boys; a 17 year-old sex allegation, along with an equally outdated charge for Marijuana posession. Both of these events taking place prior to the current boys even being born. This was seen by me as a personal attack on 5 boys who are guilty of nothing except living out their dream.
I truly belive that because of my current insider status, nobody is more qualified than myself to compose the now current Menudo story. However, I do understand your unfortunate position as well as Wikipedia's- of being caught in the middle and needing to enforce poloicy all across the board, without showing any favoritism or bias.
With that said, I will honor your wishes. Best regards, Christopher R (talk) 07:43, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
- The best approach will be to participate on the talk page of the article, making suggestions. Your participation there is welcome, and you are right that I hold no animosity towards you, the boys, or your company. It is just a lot easier for us to ask all sides with any form of interest in the story (positive or negative) to back off and act in solely an advisory role on the talk page.--Jimbo Wales (talk) 18:06, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Warning
You are banned from editing articles on or relating to Menudo. Banned means banned. Not banned apart from edits like this, it means banned. If you edit that article again, you will be blocked from editing. Guy (Help!) 21:06, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
